How Much Time to Spend

How much time did you allow to get dressed and ready? We're doing first look pics at 3:30 and I am having a hard time figuring out how much time to spend getting ready after the hair/makeup appts.

Re: How Much Time to Spend

  • hair and make up are what takes the most time.
it took me all of 5 mintues to pull on my dress and step into my shoes.

  • My pictures started at 3:30 also.  My hair appointment was at 1. Done by 2:30.  Makeup took about 10 mins.  My dress took about 15-20 mintues because it was a corest and had to be strung up (and they did it wrong the first time)

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Ask your hair and makeup people how long it will take for you and anyone who is also getting their hair/makuep done who needs to be in pictures (ie BMs, MOB, MOG, etc). I would allot 30 minutes for actually getting dressed.

  • My hair appointment ended up taking a lot longer than my stylist had thought based on my hair trial, so I ended up getting dressed pretty quickly.  I didn't have a bridal party, it was just me and my friend that laced up my dress--took 10-15 minutes (jewelry, dress, shoes).

One thing that saved my nerves is that my photographer was at the salon with me and my mom.  I must have asked her a dozen times if our timing was ok or if we were going to have to rush through pre-ceremony photos.  She was really reassuring that everything would be fine (and she was totally right).
  • Hair people came at 3pm.

Make up person was supposed to come at 4:30pm (didn't - hair person did my make up).

Photographer came at 5pm, then I put my dress on and had pictures.

    Wedding was at 6pm.
  • I swear I answered this yesterday - is TK eating posts again?

Anyway, my hair appt was at 10 (yesterday I said 9 but I'm pretty sure it was 10) and I got to the church at 12.  I was in my dress and doing makeup by 12:30, so getting dressed was less than 30 minutes, and that includes crinoline, tights, shoes and jewelry.  My dress was a zip up though, which is definitely easier.  The weddings I've been in where the bride had a corset, it still was probably only 30 minutes for her to get dressed.  We did practice the corset lacing though.
