Granite Rose Tasting 01/13?

Hi,
We just returned from the Granite Rose's annual tasting event. We really had a great time. It was wondeful experience to have the opportunity to sample their menu. We all loved the Prime Rib, chicken chambord and haddock supreme for entrees. The wedding cake samples for Jacques were out of this world. It will be a very difficult final decision on that one for sure!
Did anyone here attend this event? If so, what are your impressions?

I went tonight too! I loved the beef tenderloin and the haddock supreme as well! I really wasn't a fan of any of the chicken dishes. Maybe because mine weren't piping hot but we don't want to take the chance that the chicken dishes won't be good on the day of. I wish you could schedule a private tasting so you could try some of the other passed appitizers.

I really liked that Jacques and Susanne were there! I was a little disappointed to find out from Jacques that a square cake would be around $3-$5 extra per person! My fiance and I really wanted a square cake but are unwilling to pay up to $400 extra for a square cake!

The tasting was overall really great and I am so glad that the GR does that for their brides and their families :)

I went too! We had a great time as well! I was there with my parents and my FI.

FI and I loved the chambord chicken and also the beef tenderloin. We also really liked te turkey and the strip steak! We loved a lot of other things too, so now we need to try and decide! I think that will be the hardest part.

FI and I had already met with Jaques because we wanted to upgrade our cake from the ones offered in the package.  We have a woodsy theme to our wedding and they are making our cake look like a birch tree with our initials carved in the side. It was a little extra for the upgrade, but we really liked it.  It was nice to try the cake again though because they had the flavors we already picked for our cake.

I thought it was a great night.  It was nice to see the table displays and flower arrangements to give you an idea of what it will look like on the big day.

Thanks for sharing your experiences girls.  We may be using Jacques for our cake and it's nice to hear such positive reviews.

    dhdaydream ,
We are the parents of the groom. We attended with our son and future DIL. We were so very busy enjoying the tasting that we never did write down the exact flavor combos of the cake samples.
I emailed Jacques today to inquire about the flavors served last evening.
If you don't mind me asking, which flavor combo did you & your FI end up choosing?
I know the cake style you are referring to and it is really unique and such an adorable theme.
    Best of luck!

    Mom2MPS,

    Our cake has 3 tiers.
For the bottom tier we are doing the almond cake with alternating amaretto and vanilla buttercream
for the middle tier we are doing lemon cake with lemon buttercream.
And for the top tier (our tier) we did the almond with the amaretto because we just loved it so much.

We did our appointment with Jaques back in June and we worked with Tom and he was great. We got to try just about everything they had! We were so full! :) But they were really great to work with.  I'd love to hear what you all end up deciding on! :)

We are going to do red velvet with creamcheese frosting! It is my absolute favorite and I cannot wait :)
