Indoor pictures

I am getting married in July and will be taking photos before the ceremony.  We have someone driving us around the city, however we will be takiing pictures outdoors for 3 hours, maybe a little less.  I am now thinking this is a bad idea since it will be so hot.  Does anyone have any indoor suggestions, at least for part of the time?  Or do you need a permit for most places?

My first thought would be the gardens in Navy Pier, but I'm not sure on permits.

I agree, 3hrs outside if it's hot could be dreadful for pictures in July, but you never know.  My SIL was married mid-July 2009 and it was only 70 that day.

See Lightology, our photographer did an e-session there.  There are some sample pics on the Lightology page:

Union Station is another place where our photographer has done wedding pics and e-sessions.

I had my pictures taken at Navy Pier - there was a $75 permit fee.  We ended up taking most of the pictures at the Stained Glass Museum section as the Crystal Garden was closed due to a private event and we could not enter.

Our photog also had us go to Union Station for some pictures but we had a run in with Chicago's finest and building security (this was humorously worked into our wedding feature by our cinematographers who were there to witness the fight between our photog and the police).  I know a lot of people go into Union Station without a permit and zip on out but in our case, I seriously thought we might have to bail out our wedding photographer!

For suggestions, I would consult with your wedding photographer.....they do this for a living and will definitely have some suggestions and will know what is free and what requires a permit.  Good luck!
