I don't remember how long I waited, but my dress sat around for a good 6 months before I had it preserved and it was fine. When I was packing it up to send to WedClean, there were still leaves stuck underneath the dress. They did a fabulous job though and I highly recommend them.

Thanks for the post! I'm at nearly 8 months and my gown is still in my garment bag!

(I had originally planned to get it cleaned at the dry clearer and then do rock the dress pics, but then said why get it cleaned if it's only get dirty again. So I'll wait to get it cleaned after the rock the dress pics. And then decided to not do them. But I still kind of want to :) So my dress is still waiting!)

Thanks for the post! And the info!

Yes I went and checked my email, I was married 11/6/09 and sent my dress to WedClean in mid-May.

I didn't have any obvious stains on my dress or anything - I'm not sure if something like that would come out after 10 months, but the underneath of my dress was filthy and from the pictures I saw (I never took the dress out of the box for fear of never getting it back in there) it is now perfectly clean.

I think I spent close to $300 to preserve my gown (30yrs ago) So my daughter asked if she could wear mine, so excited took it out of the box, special pkg and wrapping and the satin was yellowed and even worse there was a visible large stain on the middle of the skirt (which was not obviously there before cleaning)

Another story recently in paper, women had her gown preserved and daughter wanted to wear it 25 yrs latter, and upon opening the box it was the wrong gown.

    So I wish I hadn't wasted the $300!

    Just be careful.

I cleaned and preserved my gown over a year and a half after we got married and it was fine. Didn't cost extra, and there weren't any issues with it. Just do it now before it turns into 10 years!
