Hair Trial Disaster PIP

I couldn't get the pictures to post in the previous post so here they are.  Thanks for all your suggestions. I asked her the stylist about extensions and she said she didn't think I needed them.  I have some pictures but the are pretty awful because they are from a cell phone.  My camera is broken.  I have an appointment to try an updo I just don't usually like how my hair looks when it is all up but I am still going to try and see.  I think I will also try to see if I can find a master stylist.  Here are the pictures.  Please let me know what you think.

  • Wow, the sides look AMAZING! I love it!!!

But I'm not sure how I feel about the back- it looks a bit messy. Maybe do something like a smooth bob on the top of your back and then spread it out with curls?

The front looks so cute, but I agree about the bob on the side, maybe smooth it over (pull it back a bit) so it doesn't look like there's a big bob there.

To be honest, you look like you have a thick hair!

  • Thanks for posting! I don't think it looks horrible, but it probably could be improved. I think the way she bumped it up on the sides loos a bit funny. In the first two pics you posted, it just has a weird shape on the top (kind of squared off, rather than curved, the way your head is). It could be my personal preference, but I like softer curls than what you have there. They just seem a bit tight and kind of ringlet-y. A big curling iron or even using curlers instead of an iron could give a bit of a softer look.

  • I agree - the side view is absolutely stunning.

It just seems like the stylist might have been rushing - the curls don't look like they were done perfectly or symmetrically, and I am confused about what she was doing in the back as far as pulling pieces up.

I think you should tell your stylist your concerns (which I am assuming are the same ones mekiakoo and I are having). My stylist did not do a "perfect" trial - there will be a lot more smoothing, time spent curling, smoothing creams, etc. applied the day of the wedding, and she only spent about 45 mins working on the practice look. Perhaps your stylist intends to make it look better the day of the wedding??

If you don't like how your hair looks all-up, stick with this. I think it could be absolutely stunning this way, if the back is done differently and the curls are done a little differently.

I also agree on the thickness thing - your hair looks thick and it looks like you have tons of hair! i don't think you need extensions at all if you stick with a style like this.

    good luck!
  • I think the sides look great and I don't think your hair looks thin at all. I'm not crazy about the top of the back. Maybe it would look better if she just took the front pieces and simply pinned them back. It would be beautiful and classic.

Thaks for the suggestions. If I go with her I am definitely going to have to voice the concerns you guys have mentioned those are my concerns too.  I took her almost 2hrs to do this and she used tons of creams and wax she curled it with rollers first and by the time she finished I didn't think the back was curly enought so she curled it with a curling iron.  Thanks again I am really STRESSED out about this!

  • I'd ask her for a second trial. And she did it with rollers first?! That seems odd to me.. A curling iron works better and is more predictable. And 2 hours seems like a reallllyy looonng time. Did she just begin doing hair?

My mom had a hair trial on Sat too and she put rollers in her hair first too.  My mom's hair came out good there were a few tweaks we will be making but nothing major wrong.  She has been doing hair for at least 10 years if not longer and everyone gives her rave reviews.  She said my hair was a huge challenge and was really had to work with.  It only took her like 45 min to a hour to do my mom's and her hair is way thicker and longer than mine.  She did an updo for her.

  • So after seeing your pics I dont think you need extensions either.  I think maybe your hair is more fine than thin.  Anyhow...I agree with pretty much everything everyone else has said.  It looks amazing from the side.  I would have the bangs more to the side than they are and the back looks a bit messy and the top of the back I am completely confused about.  I would talk to her and do another trial of it half up.  I think it could look absolutely beautiful.  :)

  • I really don't think you need extensions!  You have pretty hair! My hair is similar to yours, its thin but fuller in other areas!  I honestly love it all, except for the back...it looks messy...I would still consider someone else doing it though....Have you thumbed through any wedding hair photos that you like?

I also think that an up-do would look great, if it was done a certain way...definitely see what your options are =)  You have some time to play
  • I agree with PP. Your hair doesn't look thin at all, but I dont love the curls in the back. Maybe you could loosen them up some?
