So in the last 24 hours I have fired my original reception venue and hired another. It's a long complicated story. But... holy crap, where the eff did this weekend go?!?!!?!?

I did that too. We had a venue and caterer, but we never put down a deposit. Then we found a venue 5 blocks from our ceremony location, it was way nicer and turned out to be cheaper. It made way more sense logistically, was beautiful, had way better food for a great price, and now the BP is going to walk to the venue from the ceremony, like a little wedding parade. I think it'll be awesome.

@OP - that really sucks! what happened!?

@brit_bell: i saw a wedding on tv once where the whole wedding was led by a high school marching band from the church to the venue. a few golf carts were available for the elderly but it was so cute. guests were given little flags to wave and along the 'parade route' there were little signs staked into the ground with the bride and groom's love story (one sentence on each sign - spaced about a half block apart).

MissOwl, I just hit wits end at unprofessional and unorganized behavior of our original vendor. It really sucked, but things seems to be sooo much better already. I'm really excited to be with the new place.
