Question bout Dress

Ok ladies...so if you remember I really LOVE the mermaid style dresses.

I asked FI what kind of dress he pictures me in and the first thing that he said was he doesnt see me in a fitted dress. I am not really into the ballgown type of dresses.

So what do you recommend?

Is there a way that I can kind of have a little bit of both?

Any suggestions?

I am sure he will love whatever it is that I have on but that just got me thinking...

You don't have to do a ball gown you can do something fitted that kind of flows down in a simple A line (my dress below).  Of course he is going to love you with whatever you're in!  Maybe you can show him what mermaid looks like most men have no clue about gowns.  He may change his mind when he imagines his baby's curves being hugged that tight!

OFF, I love your dress.  I was going to suggest the same thing.  Something A-Line.  That silhouette flatters most body types.  I'm not into the ball gown thing either, but I think it looks great on other brides.  My dress is kinda A-Lineish, I think.  See below.

    Off, your dress is stunning.

But yeah, whatever you wear, he will find you beautiful in it. He may also not have an idea of what a mermaid wedding dress truly is. So maybe show him pictures or just let it go unless he is really pushing it and really wants you to wear a ball gown.

I had the same concern. I really want my fi to love my dress, and me in it. But I realized that I was obsessing over it and started to freak out. I still do at times, but I doubt he will not like me in the dress.

With that said, the 2 dresses above are good suggestions of styles, which can satisfy both of you.

PS: The dress in you bio is gorgeous by the way, and there is no way he won't want to eat you up with that dress on (or off. LOL)

Here are some other A-Line suggestions.

Just some idea of what is available.  I think an a-line sillouhette (sp?) with a longer bodice would give you the feel of a mermaidish style, but give him the illusion of the non-fitted idea he has.  However, regardless of what you decide to go with, he's going to think you are gorgeous because you will have that "I'm your wife" glow and there's nothing better than that for a man.  GL!

I agree with the other ladies.... he'll love any dress you're in. Plus, men don't really know styles and trends, he may be picturing something horrendous that's no where near what you'll look like.

A trumpet dress is a happy medium between a mermaid and an a-line

Thanks ladies! I love my dress too :)

Yeah I agree with mandi a longer curve hugging bodice that leads down to an A line may work for both of you.  Fortunately that look is in so you shouldnt have a problem finding a dress like that.

As a ball gown bride I cant comment on this post. JK

All the dresses above are great ! And you would like nice in all of them. But honestly you just have to try different styles on until you find the one. Im sure that if THE one winds up being mermaid, that fi wont be disappointed.

Like the other ladies have said, men don't really follow the styles the way women do.  In a lot of men's minds, a wedding dress is supposed to be a big, white, poofy confection because that's what they've seen.   But that doesn't mean brides can't show their grooms something different.  When we look good that is ALL they remember.  ;)

I just wanted to second what Mandikaykay said a longer bodice that flares out like OFF's dress would be good.  I also like MIABRIDENTAMPA's dress (hey girl!).  That would be a good look. But yeah, he'll love you in anything.
