I have a brown and turquoise pair from Target. I pretty much only wear them in the rain. I've tried them for cold weather but rubber gets cold really quickly so no dice.
See, it rains a LOT here (as in, today is the first day I've seen the sun in 10 days kind of lot) so they're really necessary here. I've also been looking at the welly warmers for when it gets a bit colder, but is slushy. I'm looking at these:
I got some cute black with colored polka dots rain boots from Target in January for about $25. I wore them hiking in the snow and a creek with my H, and I wore them a couple of other times. None of my jeans are really skinny enough to tuck into them nicely, and I think rain boots look better/cuter with skirts. I'm sure I'll use them again this winter though!
So..not sure if that's helpful, it's all I've got!
Ditto to @nhelene! I have some from Target that I only wear in the rain. I take public transportation to work, and I hate when I get my pant legs wet and then sit in my office wet and cold. I don't wear them in the winter because they are not warm enough, but I know some brands you can get fleece liners. Also, a good and sturdy pair of winter/snow boots are necessary for Chicago winters!
I have some navy and yellow plaid ones. I wear them when its wet/snowy out. They are from Nordstrom's though, so really, not extremely practical. They work for me, though.
Amoro, I think you should get them since they seem like they will be very practical for you and like you said, you won't stand out.
I've seen more and more people wearing them in Chicago, but not an amount that stands out too much. Both times I was in London, I saw so many girls who looked super cute wearing theirs.
I wish it rained here more so I could wear them more.
I have a pair of warm winter-ish boots and a pair of wellies that I got for about $25 at Target. I like them. They're white with pink trim and multicolored polka dots.
When we went to Sequoia National Park last December I wore them because I knew there would be a few feet of snow on the ground and my wintery boots weren't waterproof. For Target brand boots, the wellies really held up. When we got back to the tour bus I changed into the warm boots.
Yes! I love the Hunter wellies, and meant to get them last fall but by the time I had time to go shopping, it was snowy and I figured I didn't need them anymore.
They are definitely in style. Like UGGs people either love them or hate them, but if you love them, then wear them.
I like the ones with the wedge heel, but the first option i like the height better.
I had a Target pair but need to replace them. I wore them too much in cold weather because I didn't have waterproof snowboots for a while. The exposure to rock salt made the rubber crack!
I have some, but they're definitely not Wellies. They're just rubber boots from Wal-Mart. They're not cute in the slightest, but they're useful. It rains a lot down here. I was wearing them when FI proposed
I love mine, they're black and white houndstooth. They were really popular in my college town, but not so much here where I'm working. But, I don't care, I think they're comfortable and practical. I don't wear them for cold, just for wet.
I looked at some houndstooth, but I can only find them in the wedge heel kind. Hrm. I should probably look around in the stores here before I buy some for GBP. haha

Re: Wellies
And, I'm not a fan of wellies in the slightest.

I've seen a lot of people with them here, so I know that they're fashiony/normal.

I think they are something that can be practical and cute. Personally, I wouldn't get any of the crazy patterned ones. Maybe something like:

Even though I don't care for Burberry print, I think these look cute.

and I have a sailing pair that I hate that'll use for gardening.
But now that you mention it, given our wet season rain is measured in METERS, i may need to look into an everyday pair myself.

Indeed they are!
Amoro, I'd have to go with the original ones, but in red or purple. I also like the green. Don't match what you have on? Eh, who cares.
