Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Harriet Island Pavilion

Has anyone had their wedding here?  I would like some feedback as the pictures on their website seem a bit outdated.  The place sounds like a great deal (can bring your own vendors, etc) but I would rather hear what you guys think!

I haven't had my own wedding there, but I've catered a wedding there. It was really nice, although really warm (in middle of summer). The space is smaller, so depending on how many people you have it might get tight. It's also just one big room, with smaller bathrooms up in the front of the room. The kitchen is huge for vendors, and the location and view is awesome! HTH!

I haven't been there...but I believe the getting it booked part is a little tricky.  I think there is a lottery type process to get a permit for it - since it's a St. Paul city park - you need to reserve a permit for it.  Hopefully someone else who has expereince with it will weigh in and have more accurate info for you.

We have 130-150 ppl.  We are doing either spring or fall, so warm shouldn't be an issue (April or Oct).  More thoughts?

Its not a lottery they just have 2 days that people are allowed to come and get permits. So its a first come first serve. My former roommate did it for her cousin and said it wasn't a problem. So you will have to figure out when the days are.

HTH the space is beautiful and I think you can do a lot of amazing things with the space. FWIW I would have mine there if I was doing a Cities Wedding. Family shot that down though LoL

We are getting married there on Oct. 8th. It's not a lottery and there aren't specific days you can book. The pavilion is a public park and only book out 12 months in advance, 13 if you are a St. Paul resident. Booking is on a first come, first served basis. We dropped off the application and the down payment 13 months before our hopeful date and got the date we wanted. I've heard that the summer months book up quickly especially since some the Island is already reserved for things like the Taste of Minnesota. The pavilion can seat 275 I believe, and ceremony is 225. I suggest attending one of their open houses, you can check the website for the dates. The women who oversee everything are very knowledgeable and helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Exactly what am_snoboard said. You have a better shot if you live in St. Paul or know someone who does. My brother got married there in April 5 years ago and my good friend is getting marred next June. She and her FI don't live in St Paul but they know someone who does so that person went with to get the permit and it worked out for them. My brothers April wedding was beautiful. They had the ceremony on the cement outside and the reception inside. You will want to have a DOC or someone designated to set up however, don't DIY set up, too much stress. I am an aspiring coordinator so naturally when my girlfriend said that's where the wedding is I offered my services right away. It's not an all inclusive deal, which is hard sometimes because all the little things add up but it does make for a great wedding!
