Can you recommend a song that would go with father/daughter mother/son combination dance? I don't want my guests to sit through 10 minutes of father/daughter and then mother/son dancing two separate songs.
I was just thinking the same thing Carla. I don't want my guests to sit for 2 seperate songs. I'm thinking about just doing without the daughter/father, mother/son dances and just doing the bride/groom dance. I want the party to get started immediately. But, then again I know some people will expect it so I'm interested to see some suggestions as well.
i have no song suggestions but what about fading each song out at 2 minutes....that way you can have 2 seperate songs....we faded at about 1.5 for each song and even that seemed long.

this! my friend did about a min and a half for 1st dance, father/daughter...it was quick and to the point.
I was thinking of fading the songs out too -- even the first dance bWcause all of that is a LONG time... we're actually doing the dance with our kids (I have a son, he has a daughter), and I know that they don't even WANT to do it, but we want to have something symbolic since our parents are deceased.
I hope you get some good suggestions. I was also thinking of You are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder (and then going to Party Rock... yeah, that's what I said -- my son is 10 LOL).

I agree with this. The mother/son and father/daughter dance are personal favorites of mine, I'm so bummed our reception place doesn't allowing dancing because my Dad can step with the best of them and I was SO looking forward to cutting a rug with him. But I would suggest sticking with two separate and unique songs and then cutting them short...or only playing select parts.
Re: Song selection help needed
Unforgettable - both Coles
Wind Beneath my Wings - Bette Midler
Because You Love Me - Celine Dion
Ever since I heard her say that she wrote it for her son, You Are My Friend this has been my favorite Patti Labelle song
oooh, tough question Carla

A Google search came up with Unforgettable - Natalie Cole
Sunshine of my life - Stevie Wonder
And similar songs but when I read the lyrics these songs are referring to lovers not parent/child relationships.
I will either do the 2 songs shortened or here are a few I found that might work:
You raise me up - Josh Groben
Hero - Mariah Carey
