Cant decide on a favor!

So what do people normally do with favors from weddings? *Either eat the candy or throw away the special little item that took the bride months to decide on!*

I don't want that to happen with my wedding! I want to send them with something.. but I don't know what to send because I have a little bit of a theme for my wedding.

Our main color is purple, with hints of pale blue & gray. We have a "movie" theme that is apart of the reception. Each table is going to have a framed picture of a specfic movie. My fiance and I both get to pick 6 of our favorite movies. On the little placecards... below their name there will be a quote from a movie. They are going to need to figure out where the quote is from, from which movie.. which will take them time to get to their tables...

The menu by the buffet table is going to look like "showtimes" for a movie theater, but with the food items instead of movies.

We are also going to have a "concessions" table.. filled with candy & different types of popcorn. All of these movie themed parts will obviously have purple, pale blue & gray incorporated in them..

WHAT FAVOR GOES WITH MY WEDDING?!?!?!?!?!

i am SO confused. help :) pleease!

    I think the "concessions" portion of your wedding would cover the favors if you provided a small take-away box for each guest.

    otherwise I've seen small, golden Oscar chocolates which might be cute on each place setting

    Yes, I think your concessions table will act as your favor if you provide take home bags/boxes.

    Also, I think you should include table numbers on your escort cards along with the movie quote.  I am terrible at movie quotes, no matter how many times I've seen a movie, so hunting down my table would not be fun.

    Yeah I was thinking that we would just do that with the concessions table... then i guess we'll just get stickers with our names for the bags or tags with our names on it. 

    I'll put the number of the table on the back of the cards : )

    they are pretty easy.. "chocolate is dandy, but liquor is quicker" -charlie & the chocolate factory, "nobody puts baby in the corner" -dirty dancing.. etc.

    Love the idea!! Especially the escort cards. Who doesn't love trivia! Are you going to have a framed sign that explains the escort cards? Just in case some people can't figure it out. And I would put in () Don't look on the back unless you are dumb founded ;) or something like that. I know Micheal's and Target had plastic popcorn containers for $1. People could use these for the concessions and take home to reuse every time they watch a movie. 

    I also like the different types of popcorn this is a really cute idea, you should post pics!

    The escort cards will be explained somehow. . . Probably just saying "Match your quote with the movie" Then I think we'll have a list of all the movies... Then they can just find the table by looking at the framed picture of "Dirty Dancing." 

    I might even have some cards on the table that have trivia about the movie. Just so it gets the guests talking with eachother at the table. 

    Some people may find this really corny. But my fiance and I LOVE movies & LOVE games and trivia and such. 

    Plum: The popcorn holders are a cute idea, i've seen some that are ceramic & plain cream colored.. which is what i would want... i can't do the tacky red & white popcorn box! haha. But they were expensive.. I guess we'll see. 

    And I'll def post pictures once we have some more things together & of course when the wedding is here... not until September!

    I agree that you are good with the "concession stand" being the favor.  And with putting the numbers on the escort card somehow.   Remember not everyone has seen every movie.  Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie so I got that quote but I have never seen Charlie and Chocolate Factory so I would never find my seat. 

    BTW:  I think your reception sounds really cute.

    My Fi and I are also using movies to name our tables!  We picked romance movies that we've enjoyed watching together.  To make it easier for the guest we're using the picture from the movie as the escort card.  This is what it looks like:







    This way our guest only have to find their matching movie to find their table.  GL!  Your idea sounds fabulous!

    Mariemoten i really like all your ideas...very original and unique! I think it will turn out awesome and if it is what you and your fiance love who cares what people think!

    I think an edible item is ok.  Then you could go with a popcorn machine or a candy bar.  However, findin something permanant with that theme can be tricky.  It really depends on your budget.  You could give a dvd to each family.  You could create a movie flip book (instructions can be found online) of you and your fiance, you could give out movie posters, you could give a goodie bag like they do at award shows for the actors/actresses and their guests and you could include something written that coincides with the movie theme.  You could also have a photo booth with movie themed props and the photos could be the favor.  Perhaps a cool frame could go along with this gift.  Sometimes somethign sentimental is better than an actual gift.

    I like the popcorn machine idea, very original. I've also seen popcon bags sold in sets of like 5 or something at the dollor store but I think they're tje red and white ones you don't like.

    ... am I the only one who wants to point out that it is "Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker" rather than chocolate?  I do love candy AND chocolate, though... it just rhymes better this way!

    I love your theme and the ideas about popcorn and candy.  You'll have a blast!  Anyway you can get one of those machines that do the Cherry flavored slushies?  Those epitomize 'movie theater' for me.  But maybe that's just me!

    ARV266: That's what I was planning on doing... just a print out picture of the dvd.. But we're putting them in frames so it's not random.

    LiaAli: THANKS! it's kinda awesome to see that other people think our ideas are cute! makes it worth the while.

    I'd love to do a popcorn machine.. but they are too expensive to rent. We just don't have it in the budget.

    <div>I would fail miserably at this.  What if your guests haven't seen your favorite movies?  What about the elderly guests who can't wonder aimlessly around the room looking for the seat?  I think adding table numbers would probably be a good idea.</div>

    Ditto PPs that the quotes would be difficult.  I've seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory many times and didn't rememer that quote was from it.  I think its really cute though, but maybe on the back of the card you can put the title of the move so people can still do the trivia but don't have to walk all the way to the back of the room if they need the answer. 

    I agree that the concessions table could be the favor.  I wouldn't waste your money to get stickers or tags though with your name on them.  Your names and date don't have to be on the favor.  If you really want them though, I suggest using Vistaprint and making return labels, which you can almost always get 100 for free from there.  My shower favor was a weddng cake cutout cookie, and they were put in clear small bags but needed a seal.  I ordered the return address labels from Vistaprint and wrote Thanks for sharing in my special day, and they worked out great.

    Yeah I think a little goodie bag of instant popcorn and a couple movie theater staples for candy would be a great favor.

    You could also make a CD of some famous songs from movies. This would be fairly cheap. You can burn CD's off of iTunes for free (if you already own the songs), blank CD's come in huge packets for next to nothing, and you could make the CD cover art and song list on your computer. We are doing this for our favors but they won't be from movies since we don't have a movie theme. I was given a mix CD some years ago as a wedding favor and still have it and listen to it!

    Or you could also get a stamp made with your name and date of the wedding and put the stamp on the front of the goodie bag.
