No gifts purchased??

I don't want to be crazy or bridezilla and demand gifts, but I am confused.

I promised myself I wouldn't peek at any of my registries until after my shower. Well, I just cheated and looked. My shower is in 2 weeks and invites went out for it 2 weeks ago and not a single gift on any of my registries has been purchased. Uhh? Is this weird? It makes me sad/nervous!! I saw the invites and all my registry info is printed on them.

Thoughts?

Re: No gifts purchased??

  • I wouldn't worry about it too much. The shower is still 2 weeks away. People are procrastinators.

  • A lot of ppl don't buy anything until the day of/before. Don't worry :)

  • Thank you! I just needed to hear that lol. My sister pointed out we haven't even hit the RSVP deadline yet so there's no reason to worry yet.

  • Ditto to what everyone has said so far.  I wouldn't worry too much since I can think of multiple bridal showers that I have been invited to where I bought the gift the day before or the day of :)

  • I honestly don't buy a shower gift until the day before...sometimes not until RIGHT before! lol  I'm sure other people are the same way, so I wouldn't worry. :)
  • We only have a handful of stuff bought off of our registry, more than half of it is from my BMs. My shower is in two weeks as well.

  • One of my showers is in a week, and there hasn't been a lot of stuff bought, either.

Does anyone else wish you could prioritize what you want?  I want our dishes and silverware most of all, but none of it has been bought yet =\

  • My first shower is 3 weeks away with a lot of people and only 2 gifts have been purchased from our registeries.  So as others have mentioned I think people just wait.  :)
  • THere was a shower for me 2 weeks ago...only my mom bought off the registry. Everyone just got me what they thing I want...(which kinda defeats the point of registries...and Im not so thrilled about some of the gifts, and no one offered gift reciepts, so I have a lot of crap I didnt want now...but I also got some good stuff, or stuff from the registry that apparently they either didnt tell the store that it was from a registry, or that they bought elsewhere)

My inlaws got me a breadmaker. No offense, but I will never make bread, its time consuming and I get free 'healthy' bread from someone I know, so its not a cost saver or healthier anyways...my FI says we cant take it back because his dad picked it out and will be offended...well I am offended that people who knew the best how to access our registry and have asked numerous times didnt get us something we actaully wanted or needed....but anyways. I did get a crockpot (from someone else) thats better then the one on the registry so that was exciting!

  • LOL, I've been registry stalking too and was getting worried about having a very few items checked off my registry... Well my shower is tomorrow and as I looked tonight, suddenly there are tons of items purchased, so YES people procrastinate! :)
  • Thanks everyone! Love hearing your stories.
TPC sorry to hear about your breadmaker, what an awkward gift lol
