Wedding toast

Im providing my own bar for my wedding. While working on my list of what to get and special cocktails I started thinking about the toast. People always expect a champagne toast but I hate champagne. Is anyone else doing something beside champage?

Re: Wedding toast

  • we are offering champagine, sparking grape juice or ginge ale
  • oh man I haven't even thought about this. we have just domestic beer, house wine, soda, etc in our bar. I don't even think we'll do anything special like that for a toast... lol

  • People will have to toast us with whatever beverage they have in hand.  We're not doing champagne or anything special, though there will be speeches, hence a toast.  If you have champagne flutes for your guests, I imagine you could fill them with anything you like including soda, juice, or champagne for all but you.  I'd try to stick with just one option though so servers can go ahead and pour for everyone rather than ask choices.

We love Barefoot Moscato White Wine and have turned many family members/friends on to that wine so we are using that... the venue is going out to get it for us since they don't normally offer it. I thought it was a sweet touch. Added bonus- it's costing us less than a champagne toast :)

  • I agree, let people toast with whatever they have on hand. Champagne toasts can be nice, but like you said, lots of people don't like champagne and it will go to waste. Ours is included, we wouldn't pay extra for it. Since you're doing your own bar, you could have champagne available as an option and drink it yourself, but not everyone has to have it.
  • Mom is buying boxed champagne for the toast (traditional in my family to have the specific ones she is purchasing), but for little kids we are offering sprite or punch!! :)
