Ugh so after two weeks of calling a million places and getting prices we've finally decided to have our rehearsal dinner catered at our home. I really didn't want to do this because it means work, stress and a mess to clean up in my home in time for pictures the next morning but no matter where we went we were looking at another $1,000 because of the size of the group (we have a larger immediate family thanks to divorced parents on both sides.) We're at about 25 people between immediate family, the wedding party and the wedding party's significant others (most are coming from out of town so we have to include their dates.)
This is definitely the cheaper option by far, even if I hire one or two of my younger brother's friends to act as servers to alleviate some of the stress but I'm still a bit disappointed because I really didn't want this on my plate.
We did the engagement part at our house because my parents are divorced and are impossible to work together to do anything jointly and even though they were "hosting it" it ended up being so much freaking work for me. My mom and FI have promised that I won't have to do any of the clean up or anything this time around but just having 25 people in my house in itself if stressful.
Anyway any advice of staying calm and maybe delegating specific tasks so I can keep my role in this as low as possible? Anyone else doing it at home?
