First Look

Has anyone either done a first look or are planning on one?  I was really against it for the longest time, wanting to see my future husband for the first time walking down the aisle, but the more I think of it, I'm considering it so we can really take time with pictures beforehand, have a small break inbetween the ceremony and cocktail hour and really be able to enjoy the reception that we've been planning (and are working hard to pay for!). Ideally, I would love to do the first look at the Point Judith lighthouse (ceremony at South Ferry Church, reception at the Towers). If the ceremony starts at 4, what time would we do the first look? And then heading back to the church, the boys would get dropped off first, and then what would the girls do since there's no "getting ready" room at South Ferry?
Thanks for your help!!

Hi! I'm not doing a first look, but as for getting to South ferry. Typically, if you have done a first look, then usually everyone just arrives a bit later- the girls and guys at the same time. You can stay in your transportation with whomeever is walking you down the aisle until it is time

in our situation the transportation is picking up the guys, dropping them off, then coming back to ]pick up the girls. We are staying a 5 min drive from South ferry so it won't be a huge deal. and the guys are getting there early to seat everyone.

    What is a first look?

A first look is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony and you can do pictures of just the two of you, or the whole bridal party.

My photographer tried to convince me to do one.  After being a BM in two weddings that had one I am glad I did NOT do the first look.  I don't feel like it is as special.  I love looking at the pictures taken directly after our ceremony and seeing the pure look of joy on our faces of truely being "just married".  Also if taking pics. before you will have to put your rings on...If you are against it don't let someone talk you into it just because it will be easier for the schedule.  It is your day, and you should spend it however you please!  Also my husband was worried about missing our cocktail hour.  Well we didn't end up going into our reception room until we were announced and a server brought us plenty of drinks and snacks while we were taking our outdoor photos.  So I was happy with my decision not to do the first look.  Good Luck!
