flower budget?

I have no idea what flowers cost and want to start researching florists. I am planning to do smaller centerpieces. What is/was your flower budget?

TIA

I think flowers are kind of like invitations, you can pay a lot or a little, it depends on what you want.  The good thing about flowers is that there are beautiful options in all price ranges!

We watned fresh flowers but didn't want to spend a lot on flowers.  I love roses so we are goign with those.   It is great because they come in all sorts of colors and they are inexpensive.  Our total for 10 centerpieces, 4 BMs bouquets, my bouquet, 8 bouteniers, 4 cocktail tables (bud vases, single rose), arch decoration and flower petals for the aisle is about $1000 (including delivery).

I highly recommend my florist, Jody!  She is *awesome*!  She did my 2 best friends weddings and I know her work is great.  And she was able to stay within our modest budget!  Her contact info is here if you are interested:

I agree with noodle about the price ranges...we are having 13-15 table centerpieces, 2 ceremony arrangements, my bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 1groom bout, 4 groomsmen bouts, 1 father of the groom bout, 2 mothers corsages, and an aisle runner...our total is going to be between $1500-2000

Like previously mentioned, prices can range. Try to pick a budget and stay within it. I received quotes from $3000-$5500. I'm having approx 20 tables (half high, half low), some other reception decor (card table, cocktail tables, etc.), my bouquet, 4 BMs, one Jr. BM, moms, dads, a bunch of ushers and am spending about $3,000... ok make $3,500 if I keep adding to the centerpieces;)

We used Winston Flowers in Boston, which is notoriously expensive, although they have AMAZING flowers, and honestly, I didn't think their prices were that crazy.

I don't remember the exact prices, but they were around this:
    Bride's Bouquet: $125-150?
    5 bouts: $15 each
    5 corsages: $35 each
8 pew arrangements (mini buckets full of flowers): $40 each
1 huge arrangement for the bar at the reception: $175?
    Delivery/service fee: 20%?
    Tax

    Total was about $1k.

We used exotic/tropical/bright colored flowers: peonies, orchids, pincushions, calla lilies, etc. in pink, orange, yellow, and green.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

We're using Lyndsey Loring Designs out of NH and her prices are great.  For $950 we're getting my bouquet, 8 BMs, 11 bouts, 20 centerpieces and lose roses for the arbor.  We're using hydrangeas, roses and dahlias.  Centerpeices are 3 tiered mason jars/per table filled with those blooms, bouquets same flowers and corsages/bouts are roses.  I was pretty shocked that she was able to stay in my budget.

wow, after reading everyone's i feel like i paid a lot.  i had 24 tables, so i didn't do floral centerpieces.  but i got my bouquet, 7 bm bouquets, 4 pins for important women, 11 boutonnieres, 1 large piece for the mantle, and two giant urns filled for either side of the fire place.  i think i paid $2000.

Thanks Ladies! This info is very helpful. I will definitely look into your recomendations.
I wasn't planning on doing flowers for centerpieces until FH gave his opinion saying we should. Maybe I will do pricing with and without for him. Glad to know finding flowers for $1000 is doable.
