Getting in Shape

Hi Ladies, Long Time No See

Hi Ladies,

I was posting here daily a few months back and I really enjoyed watching everyone shrink and all of the motivation. Well, then I fell off the wagon, so to speak, and didnt want to face it so I avoided this forum all together... (rediculous I know). So I got re-focussed and have lost 24 lbs!!!! I cant believe it, I am so excited. I have just been really super strict with what I eat. Now, I broke my toe about 6 weeks ago, so I stopped going to the gym, last week I was able to get my foot into a shoe......but for some reason I cannot get myself to the gym. Yesterday, had my gym bag in the car, had arrangements for the kids, litteraly just didnt get off the freeway, went straight to get the kids and straight home.
We were going to start going on walks, me and my daughters, but 3 weeks ago my 8 year old broke her ankle (not a good couple months for bones in my household). Anyway, just thought I would try to get some motivation from you wonderful ladies.

  • Hey, sorry to hear about the toe and daughter's ankle. I sprained my ankle awhile back an it took me quite some time to get back at it. What finally helped for me was lowering my expectations. I expected myself to get back to full, long workouts. When I just decided that I needed to make it a habit again to even get to the gym and I would just walk in and walk out if I needed, or get there and do 5 minutes or 15 minutes that is what I would do. It actually helped me get back in the habit. In other times in the past having a buddy or someone you have to meet at the gym to be accountable to worked for me as well.  Good luck!

  • Ouch - sounds like a painful time! Hopefully everyone is on the mend now!

getting back into the routine is the hardest part. It takes 21 days for something to become a habit and sometimes it takes a lot of work to get to the gym. Even if you tell yourself that you'll only 'do ten minutes' I'm betting that the 10 minutes will easily turn into a half an hour or an hour once you're there and in a groove.

I know how hard the mom guilt is. But a healthy mommy = a happy mommy, and that means a happy family!
