MENU - rustic theme - suggestions please.

FI and I are having a friends father who is a chef cater our wedding. He told us to give him some suggestions for the food and he will give us the one that will be cheapest. We know we want brisket for sure but we can't decide on side items. I want it to feel relaxed but not like we are throwing a backyard birthday party. Please give suggestions.

  • Well we are having loaded mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. That might work for you too? It's not fancy but they are both crowd pleasers and fairly inexpensive!

  • Build your own potato bar? That way he wouldnt have to worry as much about that and just set it up? Bacon wrapped asparagus? Could you do shrimp or veggie skewers?
  • We served BBQ too. We had a mashed potato bar, and it was a huge hit. Our other sides were French green beans, grilled veggies, and cornbread with maple-honey butter. If you can do a mashed potato bar - that really was the thing everyone still talks about, people love to be able to add their own toppings. Our caterers served the mashed potatos in martini glasses, so it looked really classy.
