HELP! I NEED VENUE IDEAS

Hi Ladies!
I am new here (first day actually!) I am planning a wedding for May, 2013.  I really need venue ideas.  We have been looking on line at a bunch of places we would like to spend 5000 - 6000 including food (hopefully)  My FI would likes to think we will have 300 ppl, ( I told him he is crazy that we weren't just inviting ppl cause you know them) It has to be special right?? so I am thinking around 200 ppl..  Any suggestions would be GREAT!

    [QUOTE]First of all, Congratulations!   Is there a certain area in the TC you are looking for?  Being from St. Paul, I am doing mine at 317 in Rice Park, but there are several venues in DT St. Paul that are beautiful such as The St. Paul Hotel, Landmark Center, etc.  I know the Minneapolis knotties may have those recs for you.

    I don't know that I ever looked into prices for these places, but I'd have a hard time believing that you could feed 200 people for $5or6K.

    Lang, is there a reason you deleted? Or is TK randomly getting rid of stuff again?

    OP, I apologize that I don't have any recs for you. We didn't look at guest list and budget as the first criteria for picking venues.

    My best recommendation would be to not only look at spots outside MSP, but ones that will let you bring in your own vendors-something like the Washington County Courthouse. $5-6k for feeding 200 people will be a challenge. But one of the best ways to save money is to go with a place that will let you bring in your own vendors, hence no minimums.

    Thanks for your info, We have a whole year to save, plus the money from our parents will help out big time.  I have never done this so I guess I don't know how much anything really costs.  We haven't sat down with a venue and went over any prices so I am totally clueless.  Thanks again!

    Another place to check out that lets you bring in your own vendors is Shamrock Hall in Inver Grove Heights - Denise is great to work with and she is very open to just about anything! We are able to feed our 250 guests for quite a bit less than $5,000 through Donatelli's in White Bear Lake and Trish does a great job working with your budget. Another option with Shamrock Hall is that you can bring in all your own food so if you know someone who can cook A LOT of food for pretty inexpensive then you have that option as well. Good luck with everything!
