Diamond White vs Ivory

Hello everyone,
I (think) I've made my decision on my gown, I narrowed it down to two and the one I really like better (its more flattering) isn't available in ivory, its only available in white or diamond white.  The sample they had in the boutique was the diamond white one but it still looked pretty white to me.  I always thought I'd wear ivory for a couple of reasons, first of all this isn't my first go round (2nd marriage) and secondly I think the warmth of the ivory goes well with my skin tone.

I'm thinking that I am most probably over-thinking this. I mean the dress is beautiful, even in diamond white.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Have you ordered your dress in diamond white and wished you'd gotten Ivory?  Or vice versa??

Thanks

Re: Diamond White vs Ivory

  • I think if you love the dress, then the colour has to come second to the dress itself. I ordered my dress in ivory, but to be honest trying it on in the store it was difficult to tell if it was ivory or white or cream.
Where is the venue? The lighting could affect what shade of white the dress looks like in the end anyways!
  • You're way overthinking this. As long as you feel that the shade is flattering on you then go for it. It doesn't matter if this is your second wedding.

  • I will be getting married outside at sunset.  I guess I really am overthinking it.  (I always do)

  • Not totally overthinking it.  Do they have another dress that they could show you what the ivory would look like compared to the diamond white?  Sometimes they can also change the lighting in the store so you can see what the dress would look like in dimmer light.  If you have decided on other colors for your wedding, i.e. purple bridesmaid dresses, do you think more of a white tone or ivory tone would look good with those colors?

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

Actually purple and green are our colors.  I don't think diamond white vs ivory will effect those.  Either look good with it really.  I was more or less worried about my skin tone.  I'm Irish so I have olive undertones in my skin but I'm pale with freckles too.  So sometimes something too bright looks well....too bright on me.  I tried the Diamond white in the store and liked it though (and so does everyone else who has saw the pics) so I'm probably good to go. I have another appointment next month where I'm taking the future husband's female family members so we will see how it goes. Its between this one and another one, I love them both (of course) and I posted them on here to get opinions and its literally split up the middle with everyone here too!

  • You can totally wear white for a second wedding.   If you like how it looks, then go with it!  I think it will look a little more toned down since you'll be outside at sunset :-)

Can we see a picture???  We love dress pictures :-)

    This.
  • Here you to....my top 2.  The first is a Casablanca dress that I've LOVED for a while, the second is an Allure dress that I never would have even thought of trying on had a friend not suggested it.  I'm going back and forth.  I'm thinking the Casablanca with some adjustments (move the band up about an inch to make it more empire waist and make the bottom more ball gown-ey).

    Anyways, here you go...
