Wedding Registry

Where is everyone planning to register? Has anyone actually started their registries?

My mom is starting to pressure me to start registering, and I was just wondering if anyone has started the process!

Re: Wedding Registry

  • Since my FI and I live together we are planning to do some home renovations and have registered at Home Depot, Lowes, and Builder Discount (my son works there and he did all the registry for me)...

  • We are registering at Pottery Barn for dinnerware/servingware/barware etc. Basically for entertaining pieces because their stuff is classic and good quality. Then we are registering at BBB for kitchen type appliance stuff.

We started the Pottery Barn one not too long ago because family was asking about it for the holidays. We will probably do the BBB one sometime in Jan/Feb.

  • We don't plan on doing our registry until March. I know we're definitely registering at Target and BB&B. We may throw one more store in there.

  • You should start it now because I had a handful of relatives call my mom because they wanted to send an engagement gift. Mine isn't totally done- not even close- but I put a bunch of stuff on there that I knew I wanted and that I knew would still be available months later.

I registered at Macys for kitchen stuff and bed bath and beyond for bedroom things, dishes, and serving ware.

  • Haven't done it yet. I really really really wanted to do it but too many of my family said it's too soon. We are registering at Crate & Barrel and BBB.
  • we registered for some stuff, just a small registry, at sears. did this as people were pressuring us for it. i will add to it in feb or march likely.
  • We did it at Kohls and hve been avoiding doing it anywhere else because we got really stressed the first time around. Plus, I know his family is going to be getting us some things for the holidays and we wanted to make sure we don't register for those.

  • We are doing our's in late Feb/early March time. I already have our names down for BB&B )done while I was at a bridal show) and we'll add Belk to the list as well. =)

We're going to do it after the holidays. I'm thinking Crate and Barrel and Bed Bath and Beyond.

Anyone know if any of the sporting goods places do registries? We're big campers and I'd love a few upgraded things.

edit: Sweet; REI does one. We might pick a few pieces off of that too

  • We started our registries just for the sake of family members wanting to know what to get us for the holidays. We did two small ones. One at Target and one at Kohls. We plan on adding more stuff as it gets closer to the big day. Probably March-ish. :)

We had alot of fun. However, we did have to do the Kohls one twice that night because our scanner did not get all of our stuff the first time so we had to go and do it all again. Needless to say, FI was ready to get out of there by the time we finished! haha.

  • We started one at BBB and Target.

  • We did a totally half-hearted one on giftregistry360.com (it literally has 2 things...)  and then I registered for a nice set of dishes I've wanted since I was 12 (family friend has had them, they're classic and beautiful) from Williams Sonoma.

Not to sound like a total jerk, but I'm really hoping people give us either a small thoughtful gift or cash to use on our honeymoon.

  • We haven't yet, but I'm thinking of a honeymoon fund one. What do you all know about these?

Most of the websites take a cut -- so your guests give you a gift of $100, but you actually get less of that from the website. To me, that's a mark of a scam. It's really just cash -- there's no middle man required to give cash.

Additionally, they're still considered very controversial, so you should probably stay away from them at the risk of offending family and friends. If I were coming to your wedding and saw that, I would definitely not give you a gift through the site.

Instead, you can not register (but then you can not have a shower because those are all about giving physical gifts), or make a very small registry. Folks will understand that means you want cash.

  • I have started at BBB and Belk's so family members could use it for birthday and Christmas gifts (per their request).

<div>Eh, I wouldn't. The websites you set them up through take a percentage of whatever's given. I know in some circles HM registries are seen as tacky and rude. If I knew that the couple really just wanted money, I would just write them a check instead of giving a physical gift.</div>
