Check! Reception Dress

So, I had been waiting a bit to lose weight before ordering my reception dress, but my sister (the one making the other dresses) took one look at it and said it would be easy to take in, so I considered ordering it sooner rather than later...

Went to look at it today, and it was 50% off! Just ordered it

Can't wait!

Here's the one I decided to order (but mine is white with a red sash)

That is beautiful! Did you order it off light in the box? We ordered a flower girl dress off that website for my brother's flower girl and it came out amazing! Are you wearing a different dress for your ceremony?

Yes I did order it off there. I wasn't sure about the site, and then found out that a friend of mine orders dresses for her Mom on there all the time, she said out of the dozen dresses she's ordered she's never had a complaint

I am wearing my mother's dress for the ceremony. My sister is taking it and altering it dramatically (she's a fashion designer). Here's the dress with me trying it on as my mother wore it in 1985

My sister is making it a sweetheart neckline and backless. She's putting a black satin sash on it and black crinoline under the skirt. We've also debated working some black beading into the bodice. She's also going to make a bolero out of the material she is taking off incase its cold.

I just didn't want to risk it getting ruined during the dancing/drinking/partying so decided picking up a cheaper dress would solve that. It looks great and I'm not going to be upset if something happens to it lol

That sounds like it is going to turn out amazing! I can not wait to see pictures. I love the idea of the black crinoline underneath, I am going to dye mine yellow. I think it is a good idea to change so it does not get ruined, my dress will probably have some kind of food stain on it by the end of the night!

I think I would miss half the fun at the reception if I stayed in the one because I'd be too afraid to ruin my mother's dress lol

I can't wait either! I talked to her the other day, she was in the search for one of those mannequin body things, just the torso, to hold the bodice in place while she worked on the boning and the extra beading and stuff
