Hello Ladies,
First I want to thank those who commented about my dress fabric dilema. I appreciate the comments as I feel a little lost, even though this is not my first wedding.
Background for those who do not know: my FI and I met when we were 15, dated briefly, broke-up (thanks to the adults around us at the time - apparently we were too young to be exclusive), became best friends (spending more time with one another than the other people we were dating until my family moved out of state). We spent so much time together each of our families thought of us as just another memeber. Remained long distance best friends until we were 21, when the Army decided to not forward or return letters I had sent. Last year we decided to reunite and see what would happen, and now we're planning a wedding - one that should have happened at least 25 years ago...
My family and his are thrilled about this and are treating us and our upcoming wedding as though it is a first - which is wonderful. Which makes this all the more special. My Dad passed away in 2001, my FI was his favorite, and someone he inquired about the last time I saw my him.
Our wedding is coming together we have our venue, DJ and the floral package is complete (nice thing about silks and some DIY time).
We are changing things up quite a bit. We aren't having the traditional aisle, my FI and his daughter will be presented by his Mom (his Dad is very ill), and my Mom will present me. We are having the guests mingle and sit together, and they will have a couple of minutes to meet and greet before the ceremony takes place. We're going to have a sand ceremony as an outward symbol of the our union and the creation of our new family. Our recessional will be a fun party song to get the cocktail hour started.
Instead of cake we are going with CowGirl Chocolates for truffles as we are not cake people and they are willing to package them to match our colors and so they can be displayed like a cake.
I hope I haven't bored you to tears... and thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy post. I will be back with questions as time moves forward I'm sure, although a lot of my questions have been answered in just reading others posts. I so appreciate all the words of wisdom!
