So I went out last night with some friends to see a cover band play and it got me to thinking about how much more fun I think it would be to have a band instead of a dj at the wedding.  Has anyone here used or at least looked into bands?  was the cost comparable to dj's?  who did you use/look at?  Thanks for any suggestions.

    A little bit of research showed that we would be paying more for a band compared to a DJ.  The bare cost was more for a band plus since you need to feed your vendors, you then need to feed all people in the band compared to one DJ.

    There are deals to be found everywhere though.

    I think "bar bands" are so fun for weddings!! I really wanted to do this as opposed to an actual wedding band. I only looked into this one band my FH and I have seen when he lived in Hoboken.  They are called the Amish Outlaws and there are a riot and great. We were quoted $8500!!  I guess they are more popular than we had thought. I know people who have used the Nerds and What Up Funk Band, and I've heard great things about both. I'm uncertain of the price though.  I'm not sure how much "wedding bands" are but I know it is definitely more money than a dj. Good luck with your search and let us know what you find. :)

    We're using a band, we knew for people that didn't dance or were too old would still be able to enjoy the live entertainment of a band versus listening to a DJ. The band was definitely where we splurged but I think it's going to be worth it!
