Mother-daughter dance?

I am not getting married for 2 years, but I am just trying to get some ideas about my wedding going. My father passed away when I was very young, and my mother has never re-married, we are very close and I plan on having her walk me down the isle. Is it weird to have a mother-daughter dance instead of a father-daughter dance?

I'm in a sort of similar situation and while it's not something I'll be doing, I think it would be very sweet.  My dad passed away a few years ago, and while my mom has been dating someone, I don't feel close enough to him to dance with him and my mom is going to be the only one walking me down the isle.  Personally I know my mom and she's too traditional for it, she would think it's weird lol.  I asked my FI what he thought of skipping the parent dances altogether and he said his mom would prefer it because she would not be comfortable dancing in front of people.  So I'm pretty sure that's what we're doing.  But if you and your mom like the idea I say go for it :).

My wedding is next August and I am also having my mom give me away. I am not close to my father and I don't feel as close to any other male figures in my family. I totally plan on having a mother/daughter dance at my reception. I might call it the Mama's Dance where my fiance can dance with his mom and I can dance with mine. So I also say go for it!

Thank you guys for your input!! I I appreciate it...that makes me feel better, since I already have found the perfect song for it (Mama's song by Carrie Underwood). And since she has been the only parent in my life she will be thrilled to dance with me!

I am also using Mama's Song in my wedding. But my cousin will be singing it as my mother and my FI's mother light the candles. I love that song. It makes me cry almost every time.
