Invite Question - July 7th Brides

When are you sending them out?

We missed the saved the date time frame as we got engaged in February. Most of our family and friends know the date but I was contemplating sending them in April.

When do you plan to send your invites? Are you doing them any earlier than usual because of the July 4th holiday?

Just getting a feel. My mom looked at me like I was insane when I told her I'll be sending them in April...

Re: Invite Question - July 7th Brides

  • If most people know the date, I'd wait till the normal invitation time frame (2 months beforehand), but if you're worried, I don't think it's unreasonable to send at the end of April.

For the record, we're doing May 1st for our July 14th wedding because 98% of the people need to make travel arrangements.

  • Yes. A lot of FI's family is old fashioned "up north" type folk that don't like to come to the city. They are going to need extra prompting and to make travel plans.

The rest of the group is pretty local. Maybe I'll wait til the end of April...? I'm making them DIY instead of ordering them so I want to be sure I have plenty of time.

  • We are getting married July 21st and planning on sending invitations out at the 3 month mark, April 21st. That is pretty standard etiquette. Especially if you have guests that will need to make travel arrangements. You can always do a more casual save the date. My brother was engaged near the end of this past November and getting married end of this month (March) and they sent a save the date out in january and then sent a formal invitation out 2-3 weeks later. Kind of silly, but you do have a little more time. People's calendars fill up in the summer espcially around a big holiday like the wekeend after the 4th.

  • I'm sending them at the end of the month/early april. Most of our guests are out of town and we didn't send out STD's. It's a bit early but whatever.

  • I am getting married the 28th and I am sending them 1st week of May because our venue needs a head count 1 month before which takes us to June 23 our RSVPs need to be in by.

I'm July 7th, and planning on sending them out at the end of April or first week in May with an RSVP date of June 11th. Our venue needs the final head count two weeks before. We sent STD's out at the beginning of February to almost everyone on the list (minus a few family members), so the first of May shouldn't be a problem at all.

We are ordering in the next couple weeks, so I'm not too worried yet! It's on the to-do list.

  • I'm July 7th and we sent out our save the dates beginning of February. So my invitations will go out June 1st. In my situation the later the better because we have several people that wanted to come that we are not inviting. So maybe (not counting on it) the later we send it out the less the amount of disappointed people.

    Hopefully they made other plans.....

  • Thanks everyone! This is great feedback. I think I'm going to stick with my April timeline since everything about our wedding is so sudden - the people that will care about coming will save the info.

*ETA: our wedding is July 21st.*  We are sending ours out the first or second week of April. We have an RSVP date of May 31.  I know that is a little early, but we need to have a number by then so when we go to Jekyll Island in early to mid June to order food we have a number of people attending and can order enough.

  • If we do end up keeping July 7th (it's not locked in) then I'd send them the second week of May (I counted back on my calendar to answer!).

  • (Oh, but that would be after having let people know invitations are coming online, as sort of a save the date)

  • I am sending mine out by May 15th the latest but maybe before that.  I sent out STD's to all my family but I didn't send them to my friends and I know some need to book hotel rooms and such.

  • I am July 7th, and we are sending them out the first week of April. We sent out STD's, but we have a lot of out of state guests, so we want them to have plenty of time to make travel arrangements.
