Spray Tan or No????

Soooo I've gotten spray tans in the past and have had a wonderful experience! I would most likely get the spray tan 3 days before the wedding...but I'm worried it will stain my dress?

What are your thoughts?

Re: Spray Tan or No????

  • I'm tentatively planning to get an airbrush tan, but I'm going to test it out to make sure I like it. I am a natural redhead so I just need a minimal amount to not look translucent.
  • I got one 2 days before my wedding and it was fine.  Just make sure you don't get bronzer.
  • I'm not planning on it.  I know a couple people that did it and it got on their dress.  I don't want to worry about it sweating off on the day.

As PP mentioned, I've also heard not using bronzer is the key.  So I'm not sure.  I was thinking of just using a self tanner lotion.
  • I got a spray tan for prom (granted that was 7 years ago) and it did rub off on my dress (which was white!).  If I remember correctly, it was mostly on the inside so you couldn't see it anyways.  Of course I'm sure formulas have changed since then, but that was my experience.  I also turned orange afterwards and my track coach joked that I was not a very intimidating athlete :-)

Like TJD12, I had gotten a spray tan before prom (8 years ago) and it was terrible, I was so orangey, but 2 summers ago I did it again for the first time since because I was a bridesmaid and the dresses were brown. The formula's changed so much it's crazy! I did it 3-4 days before the wedding and it was fine.

I did it again last month so I'd be some sort of color for my engagement pictures and I'm soo glad that it was rained out because it was splotchy and just too dark. Like someone mentioned earlier, I think I might try the airbrush tan where someone uses the gun...
