How much was your dress?

with all the "say yes to the dress" and "girl meets gown" shows now I'm curious - what did you ladies spend on your dresses? If your not comfortable answering that's ok, I'm just curious what the average is for the DC area.

My wife and I got ours for $450 each. With two brides, we really had to watch the dress prices, so that they wouldn't take up our whole budget!

My dress was $3050, but I got it for $500 bc it was a discontinued floor sample dress. I lucked out!!!

    My dress was around $600.

as a side note to those that are currently dress shopping or waiting for theirs to come in, consider going outside of where you got your dress to get it altered.

I am not sure what Angie/Estee charge, but it has to be less than the $600+ I paid at the bridal store to have it hemmed ($250), bustled ($95), side seams taken in and crinoline added to the back.

My dress was $1400 but only spent $40 on shoes. I also paid a ridiculous price for the alterations at the bridal shop! I was too scared to transport it somewhere I didn't know :)

my dress was originally $1880 but i bought it during a two by rosa clara trunk show, so it was an additional 10% off. including tax and shipping, the final cost was just over $1900. the alterations will cost a flat $450 no matter how many times it needs to be altered...but after reading this thread, sounds like it's still on the pricey side, huh? :-(

there is some sort of flower appliqué on my dress that i don't like, so they told me they could take that off and turn it into a comb or something instead, which would also be included in the $450...so i guess that helps? lol oh well.

I think I spent 377 on my dress (with taxes) and I am spending about 250 on alterations (bustle, adjust shoulder straps, let out the sides :(, and steaming). I go see it tomorrow so hopefully everything is good. I took my dress to Judith's Boutique & Alterations in Vienna.

My dress was on sale for $400 and expect my alterations with Angie to cost about $200 for bustle, hem, adjust the halter strap, and have it taken in. It is from DB and isn't a name brand ... but I love it! My shoes (my favorite part) are bright orange peep toe heel sandals from DSW for $25 :)

I couldn't imagine spending $10K like some people on SYTD or Platinum weddings... I'd rather spend more on the honeymoon or great food for our guests!

My dress was originally something like $8500 but I talked them down to $7,000. I had a minor panic attack at the idea of spending that much money, but I had saved about that much specifically for if I found the perfect dress. It's Priscilla of Boston which is why it was so expensive though.

My dress was originally $500 from DB but was reduced to $250. I spent less on a wedding dress than my high school students spent on prom.

Posted by snydera[/QUOTE]I would second that. We had ours altered by Estee. Total cost was between $200 and 300 combined for the two dresses plus making a blusher for one of the veils and attaching each veil to a tiara.

I bought my dress from Filene's Basement- The running of the Brides- for $264(including tax)! I loved my dress and it was very slimming, woohoo!
