Want to help a friend with a venue search

So my friend just got engaged and she wants to get most her planning done know because she starts school again in August. So She needs help finding a venue... she will probably need something to hold 300 (her fiance said 180 people from his family :/) and she is looking for something that will not break the bank!

Any suggestions will be nice, we need all the help we can get.

MAKOY CENTER!!!!!! I went to a wedding there and loved it so we booked our wedding these and I was so amazingly suprised that I LOVED them even more after the wedding!  They are absolutely amazing!  I had about 250 rsvp and it cost me around $17,000 with food, ceremony, reception, bus too and from hotels, open bar, and chair covers and sashes.  they have a $50 fee and they will set up any decorations you bring. We did all our own centerpieces (they have some you can rent) but with that fee they set them all up exactly like I wanted, plus they help pack it all up at the end of the night.  Believe me you do not need a wedding planner or day of person with the Makoy center, they have one person assigned to your wedding and they are there for you for anything you need. They keep you on schedule, they keep things organized, she offered to get me a drink when she saw that I was distracted talking to people and didn't have a drink.  When we came in from taking pictures she met us in the parking lot with a water for me and a beer for my husband.  The food is AMAZING!!!!  I cannot say enough good things about them!  I absolutely loved them they were by far my favorite vendor and I would recommend them to anyone!  Diffinatley check them out you can have the ceremony and reception in the same room and it is such a smooth transition, very convienent.  Beautiful room with her size she would be in the emerald roomw which was what I was in.  You can look at some pictures of mine to see the room if you would like jaysphotography.net >clients >Adam and Amy's Wessing >passoword 51411 and matlackphoto.com > Amy and Adams Wedding.  We did not have any ceremony decor but you can rent theirs if you want too.  VERY GOOD!

The Makoy Center is beautiful. I really wanted to have our reception there, but it was out of our price range. They do minimums, so just tell her to be careful with that. But if she is going to have that large of a reception, she should be okay.

I would also tell her to look at local country clubs as well.

I know you checked out Via Vecchia at one point so you are familiar with it. I totally reccomend it for budget brides who need a big affordable space. Michae has been so wonderful to work with and they're so accomodating to anything you need or want. They don't have minimums or anything like that which was a huge relief for me.

If she wants to keep things affordable, tell her the main helpful points: get married out of season, and potentially on a Friday or Sunday if she doesn't have all OOT guests.

And, of course, right now I can't think of any good ideas.  I have a copy of the latest Colubmus Brides magazine, they always have a complete listing of venues broken down by budget. If you can't find one, I don't need mine, I can mail it to you! Just PM me and let me know.

I am having my reception @ the bar association and it is open for recpetions but they only book one wedding a weekend so I am not sure how open it will be considering that I already have one August weekend booked but its still worth a try. Number is 6144872050, Jan Rose is the coordinator for the "events".

Tell her to get the latest issue of COlumbus Bride and they have a really handy guide in the back. I ended up not using any of them because I was tipped off about the Bar association but it was helpful during the investigation
