Donations

What is a proper donation to give to the church for the ceremony or the choir for their singing services? I have no clue what is acceptable.

Check with your church as they may have some guidelines for you. For our choir and our other musicians, we paid about $100-$200 per musician. We paid about $700-$800 for the church (we were non-parishoners) and about $100-$200 directly to the priests (we had two). We also gave the altar servers $50 each.

Our church had set fees. And then we just tipped if needed.

We paid $250 for the wedding coordinator who was also the orgainist. Our cantor charged $50. And we gave $150 to the priest who married us. That was the recommended donation. We gave our altar servers $25 each. The church fee was $750 as we were also considered non-parishoners. H had went to church there before he moved, but since he wasn't active at the time of our wedding, they charged us the higher fee.

We do not have to pay the church usage fees but they recommend we offer a donation to the church and a donation to the choir. She did not give me recommended amounts.

I would say between $150-200 to the church.

How many are singing in the choir? Will the donation be divided between them or does it go back into the church music dept?

It goes back to the church music department.

Our church recommended 10% of our total wedding cost.  My fiance about fell over when he read that.  That would be like $2K!!!

They charge $750 if you are a non-parishoner, so we were going to do as a donation to the church.  Seems fair to me.  I mean, we make weekly donations of course!

And then there is kind of a set list of what is recommended for priest, music, etc.
