Slideshow

If you did a slideshow for your wedding, how'd you put it together?  Did you do it or did you have someone else do it?  How much did it cost?  About how many pictures did you use?  We plan to use 2 or 3 songs...don't want it to be too long.  TIA!

One of my bridesmaids is making ours, so the cost is free!

I've made several slideshows before, and I would figure around 30-45 pictures per minute.  So if you have 3 songs that are 3 minutes long, 325-350 total?  That is just my a rough estimate.

If you don't have anyone to do one for you, I would definitely recommend doing it yourself instead of hiring someone else.  It is really easy - even on the software that comes with your computer.  TIME CONSUMING, but easy and fun.

MN_Jen - How do you even make one yourself?  Do you have a type of software to do it?

I think we're just going to make ours on power point.  Seems easy enough to me!

Yup! PowerPoint is the way to go! We are having a friend of ours do it (mostly cuz neither FI nor I have the time).
You would basically just add pics to the slide templates (there are ones for photos only). You would then need to add transitions (slide transition).
This demo will tell you how to add music:

I've made one before and am also making one to show at our rehearsal dinner, but I use Windows Movie Maker. It came on my computer and is pretty self explanitory for the most part.  Powerpoint might be easier, I've just never used it for that purpose.

If you have a mac, iMovie is very simple to use and allows a lot more freedom in terms of songs, transitions, fades, etc. You can also throw video in there quite easily, and you can save it as mp4s or DVD or whatever you'd like.

We were going to do the formal slideshow but I felt weird about making people look at pictures of us.  Instead DH put pictures into a folder and made our laptop screen saver a slideshow of that folder and we hooked our laptop up to a projector.  Then we just changed the screen saver settings to keep going for 5 hours.  It was super easy and took no time at all.  It was fun for people to take a break from dancing and look at the pictures as they scrolled by.  People loved it and I didn't feel weird about forcing them to look at pictures of us.

i am making ours on windows movie maker, as it is much easier than powerpoint. i think 30-45 pictures per minute is a bit much, I am doing 45 pictures per song, that way each picture is up for about 4 seconds and then the next one comes on.
