October 2012 Weddings

ugh! moment

So I found out this weekend that the day of our wedding is going to be a special thomas the train event in town. The train leaves at 10 am and goes on a 25 minute ride to some places and ends up where my reception venue is! Ugh! These stupid tourists are going to be EVERYWHERE! I hope they're gone by 2:00! I was looking forward to having pictures at the train station etc..not having people milling about either! /end rant!!!

  • Is there anyway you could contact your venue to see if the traffic of tourist will die down before your wedding? Or maybe they will have an idea on how to keep the tourists out of your way. Hope everything works out!

  • Yeah, I'd say definitely contact your venue. And if they say there's nothing you can do, talk to your photographer. A wedding photographer in the town I'm getting married in (not one I'm using, he's too expensive, but I'm a fan and check his blog when I can) shot a wedding with pre-reception photos out on the streets during a big street festival or fair or something and they looked amazing! Your photographer may be able to work around-- or with!-- the event.

  • Our venue is next to a performing arts center and our photographer did a wedding there on the same day as a Dave Matthew's concert.  He was totally able to work around the crowd.  I'd talk to your photographer and venue, maybe they'll have some suggestions about what to do.

  • Or, you could get some adorable pictures of your wedding party on a train before the ceremony...
  • If it makes you feel any better....I found out over the weekend there is an event not far from my venue in Niagara Falls. Oktoberfest will be held a block away from my venue so there might be a lot of extra ppl running around... I would talk to your venue about the tourists and also the photographer to see what he/ she can do around the crowds. Hope everything goes well
