B&M Monday

We registered at BBB this weekend and the lady who was going to "show us how to use the scanner" just followed us around and scanned crap for us. Finally they got so busy that she was going to "be right back" and I offered to take the scanner and we could finish it up.
Thank goodness she let us.

The scanner is the best part!!!!

my only B&M really isn't too big of a B&M....we have something to do EVERY day this week before and after work :( boo

    I feel really jittery today?

But I, too, have no huge complaints -- it was a great weekend, although the storms ended up closing the road I usually take to get to work, so that was fun.  And my class averages for the test we just took were all in the 80s, which is about a 10-point jump from the same (well, similar) test last year!

    OH, here's one:
So, our organist is typically $300.  FILs really wanted a harp at the wedding, as well, so they offered to pay for it.  Apparently the policy is that any time the organist fee is less than that of the other musicians, the organist's fee is adjusted to match.  So I guess I owe him another $50, which is not a big deal in the grand scheme, it is just an unexpected expense.  Thank goodness we didn't go with the string quartet ($725)!
    Anniversary

<div>I used to work at BBB, and believe it or not, they force us to obnoxiously follow you around. Supposedly you aren't smart enough to figure out what you need on your own, or how to use a scan gun, soooo we have to do it for you. It was always SO awkward when I helped couples register, so I would show them to  towels and cookware and then "have to go do something else". I mean, seriously, I don't need to advise you on what sheets are best for your bed or what accessories you want for your guest bathroom. *eye roll*</div>

We weren't followed around at BBB when we registered. The guy just told us to go have fun.

Macy's didn't bother acknowledging us, so we registered online for them.

I spent yesterday hungover in bed, and today I have taken so much Dayquil I don't know up from down. I seriously hate seasonal allergies.

Our GMs are all in town this week and I think I am expected to go hang out and watch MNF with all of them. I am using my sinuses as an excuse not to go.

Last night was supposed to be our first coed softball game of the fall season and we were rained out. But not before a girl that I work with who committed to the team text me at noon to say that she woudln't be able to commit to playing on the team. Excuse me? Then why did you commit two weeks ago when I was looking for an extra girl?
On a related note, if you are an experienced sofball player and would like to play on a coed team in Rowlett for the fall season (Sunday evenings through Oct. 23), let me know! We would love to have you.

I know! When a team is counting on you to show up (in some cases just to be an extra body so that everyone can play), don't assume that backing out is a viable option if you can't help provide the team with a replacement. Now I look like the AHF for finding a dud.
I was so pissed yesterday--and on top of it all I am her supervisor at work so I couldn't go off on her like I really wanted to. She probably feels pretty awkward today, but what is better is that she was 'apologizing' to me and other co-workers overheard, jumped in, and basically said what I wanted to. Something along the lines of 'You FLAKED OUT on courtski?! You told her you would play! You suck at life!" It made me smile. I just shrugged my shoulders with the 'if the shoe fits' look on my face.

What kills me is when you sign up for a team and then say... "well, I can't make game 4.  Or game 6... or game 7 actually."  Because then it leaves me looking for some random to take your spot for those weeks... and they're not always easy to come by.

    UGH.

not like i dont have enough to do between work and the last 4 days before the wedding...plus training another person to cover my desk while i'm gone all next week....but lets just throw another persons work on top of it! why the heck not!

I kind of feel like we got cheated out of the whole "registering" experience.

That totally stinks :( Registering (at least from my point of view as a former registry consultant) should be a shared experience between you and your FI.

If you feel like she pushed you into scanning for things that you wouldn't have scanned yourself, I would definitely go online and remove them. Then go back in the store (or a different BBB, if you want) and tell them you and your FI just want to add some items ALONE.

    Also, YGPM Kathleen :)

Julie, I actually considered using students for the quartet, but we really only wanted the organ.  FILs offered to pay for the harp, and it will be nice to have something kind of soothing during the prelude, so we weren't upset about it.

Courtski, if I saw your schedule, I'd love to play.  How far from Dallas is Rowlett?  I'd just be worried about getting there and home in reasonable time.

New one: I hate our new sub system.  I also hate when subs complain to me that the kids are behaving like animals in front of said kids.  Yes, insult them to their faces.  That seems like a good way to get them on your side.  Of COURSE they are different than the kids at the senior high.  THEY ARE FRESHMEN.  Be the adult in the room.

We were just doing organ only until we went to the wedding music fair.  And then my dad went crazy.  I wish we had gotten a harp--we heard it the week before the wedding and I was disappointed I hadn't thought of it.

All this talk about BBB being required to follow you around when you register reminds me of my first job at Gymboree.  If you worked the sales floor, you were required to pull 6 outfits for the customer whether they wanted it or not.  If the customer refused your help by saying they were "just browsing," you would have to watch what they are looking at and then go up to them 3-5 minutes later with coordinating clothes and try to sell the customer on it.  I HATED it and felt so awful for "stalking" customers.  My brother is a DM at BBB so I'll have to ask him about the registry thing and see if that's still a current policy.

I don't have too much in the way of B&Ms today.  If anything, I'm frustrated with Caribou because they charge $14 to ship a $13 bag of coffee.  REALLY?!  Eugh.
