Fall Signature Drink Ideas?

My FI and I are getting married in October in NoVa.  Our main color is dark purple (BMs are wearing Lapis from David's Bridal) and we are accenting with fall colors (mostly oranges).  We are having an 11:00 outdoor wedding in front of an 1800s house.  We are trying to save a little money on the recception so I was thinking of maybe offering a signature drink.  For the reception I was thinking of having soda, juice, lemonade, coffee, tea (hot and cold), spiced cider, and a signature drink, and perhaps a mimosa.  His mom wants a cash bar (to which I am really opposed) and a limited beer/wine bar is an extra 2 grand.  So what I was wondering is if anyone out there has any ideas for a fall-ish signature drink that we could offer?  Just trying to please as many people as possible without going totally broke.  :)  Thanks everyone. (I posted this on the fall wedding boards but wasn't getting any replies so I figured more people were on here)

Re: Fall Signature Drink Ideas?

  • When I think fall, I think pumpkin, so how about a pumpkin martini?

I agree with you, a cash bar (or even a free full bar) is a little overkill for lunchtime.

I would have suggested a mulled wine punch, but you are already having hot cider, and quite an array of non-alcoholic beverages.

Almost any kind of martinis are popular.  Champagne or a champagne punch is always appropriate for a wedding.  Or you could just stick with beer and wine.
Most of the signature drinks I like are fairly light, and more suited to warmer weather, like mojitos, hurricane punch, margaritas, pina coladas, daqueries, etc....

And you might put out a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream for the coffee drinkers.

If you like mocha flavored frozen coffee drinks, I have a recipe for "Bushwackers".  It is a frozen drink that has coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur, cream de cocoa, rum, and milk.
  • I do like mocha flavors.  In fact it is one of my cake flavors (paired with a heath toffee ream filling).  If you would send me that recipe that would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks :D
