RSVP - no namers

It's happened...
We got an RSVP with no name on it at all, just a little check saying we can't make it with a note saying to have a beautiful day and they liked my invitation. So... do I just narrow it down as they start pouring in? And hopefully have 1 person I havent heard from (on the A list - family) and can assume it's them. Or do I wait once I've gotten most back and then call to track down the no'r?

It sounds corny - but its still a wedding check! LOL! yay for rsvp's coming in. Thank gosh! It does make me a little sad knowing most of the family will be replying no. But it'll just make me more grateful for those who do come.

  • I'd leave it for now and when you don't hear back from people, call them all.  Someone will undoubtedly say, "Oh, I send mine in!"  And you can just play along, "Oops, maybe it got lost in the mail?  Anyway, sorry to hear you can't come!"

I had heard a tip on another thread once about putting tiny numbers in the corner to correlate with their number on your list or something in case it comes back without a name, so I'm definitely going to do that.  Maybe do that with the rest?

  • I had my response cards numbered and an excel sheet, and not a single person did that to me! LOL You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't I guess. Hopefully that is the only person to do that, so that narrowing it down will be a lot easier for you! OMG it's almost hereeee AMH!!!
  • Yeah it's too late now, but putting a small number on the back and keeping a list of those numbers could make that easier.

I would just wait until more start coming in and see who you are missing.  I take it they didn't fill out their return address on the RSVP envelope?

  • Our RSVP's were post cards so they didn't have a return but Beachy you just helped me figure it out. Or I'm thinking you did. It has the City it was postmarked from (or sent from). Genius! You're amazing. :)

And thats a great idea to do with the rest of the one's that will go out in a few weeks. I never even thought about that.

  • Oh geez. I got these pens that only show up w/ the black light at the other end. Each rsvp will be numbered with it, and those numbers will coordinate with the numbers on my guest list on Excel. That way if someone does forget to put their names, I will know who it is! Not that that will help you now...

  • I got lucky that it came from Kansas City, if it had come from Louisville - I'd be screwed. LOL!

Binxy - you know thats a wonderful idea doing the black light. I actually remember a few girls talking about that on my month board, but didn't know what the heck they were referring too. Makes great sense now.

  • Oh man, we had a few RSVPs that were like that too. Too bad I didn't think of the numbering thing!
  • Yes well, I'm a child and already used one pen to write on my wall to test it. My FI should probably hide them from me til the wedding.

  • My sister put a number under the stamp...she just peeled off the stamp if the guest did not put their name down...That is what I plan to do.

Binx - I didn't realize that you were getting married the week after me!
