How was your day?

A 14-year old student nearly made me cry at work - he was such a little assshole today, but I feel sort of bad saying that because he does have mental health issues that prevent him from acting rationally on occasion. And I am currently stressing out about grad school applications, so that's fun.

I think I should go make cupcakes, no? Cupcakes make the world go 'round.

Re: How was your day?

  • My day's been ok.  TK has been frustrating me, and I had to work on business school apps so I feel your pain on that, but otherwise things are ok.  Although I definitely have a sore throat and now my chest feels really tight, so I'm not too excited about that.
  • Yes to cupcakes.

I got scratched to death by my kitten today when I was taking her to the vet.  She was not happy.
  • Cupcakes are good.

Also, go see "The Men Who Stare at Goats."  It's hilarious and will make anyones day better.

I saw it today and, as I said earlier, I'm ridiculously happy!

  • zomg navy, you're dead??? Tongue out

    Clears throat and sings:

::Cupcakes make the world go 'round, the world go 'round, the world go 'round.  Cupcakes make the world go 'round, that clinking, clanking sound....::

    Name that musical!

  • gretch - my day was okay.  My MS kids were good, but my HS kids need to stfu and stop being such biitches.  It's only a few of them, but their shiitty attitude is infectious.

    Sucrets, it doesn't matter.

And what do you mean about people sucking?

  • It was good, although it was really hot.  We went to JostVanDyke.  The guests were pretty easy going.

When I got off work DH made me dinner.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Sucrets - I have no idea what musical that is from, but I like it! And yes, bad attitudes are infectious sometimes. Sometimes I just need a break, but I can't take one because I have to be with my 1:1 student. Boo.

Kati - Are you going for an MBA, or something else?

Navy - Our cats did so great at the vet as kittens. They actually slept through their shots and exams. Now they are insane and contort their bodies in the weirdest ways when attempting to run from the vet.

P.S. - I love how I can see all of the posts when responding! That's a nice change.

  • Good. We bought our tickets to Floridaaaa today :)
AND we went food shopping. It is really so gratifying when you have a house FULL of food you love doncha think?

Sorry that kid was an assshole to you :( My nephew has the type of issues that kids at your school do. I know he legitimately has problems, and I love him to death. He can still really hurt sometimes though so I completely understand.
  • Meg - There is only so much that can be attributed to his issues. He likes to manipulate/test people (especially me since I'm new), and we know that he is totally taking advantage of the fact that people give him the benefit of the doubt because of his issues. I know he's smart though - he understands what he is doing and saying.

And YES. I love it when our fridge/cabinets are stocked. They aren't at the moment, but we are thinking of going out to Walmart soon. The one nearby is sketchy, yes?

  • I slept the day away, had to work an overnight shift last night.  In 4 months, I had completely forgotten how much I disliked working overnights.  Ordered pizza for dinner because I was in no way ambitious enough to go to the grocery store.  My fridge and cupboards are bare enough to make lazy cooking difficult.

I love being able to see the thread while posting.
  • Oh yeah GG, no mistake about it, those kids often know exactly what they are doing. I hope it gets better.

And yes, the Walmart next to BonTon is sketch city. The people are like any other city Walmart but it is more the over all look of the Walmart that creeps me out. I mean, the juuuust got a real sign for cripes sake. All the goods are SO picked over, most of them are open or damaged, and they never have basic stuff like white socks. I hope if you go you have a better experience than me.
