  Good morning!  The Riu sounds very nice.  I've never stayed at one.  We are honeymooning at the end of September and wanted to be out of the hurricane belt, so decided on Trinidad and Tobago.  I love turtles and am hoping to see some, as it is the end of nesting/beginning of hatching season.

  I've stayed at 2 Rius - one many years ago in Nuevo Vallarta, and most recently in Costa Rica. They were both fantastic but I'm pretty easy to please
  We are planning to go to the Riu in Negril, Jamaica for our honeymoon but haven't booked it yet either.

  Thanks for the info! I've been stalking flights/hotels for a few months and I did notice a small jump in airfare since the last time I checked, so you may want to book sooner than later!

  We are going to PuntaCana mid September... you shouldn't be too worried about hurricanes/bad weather.  If you get the insurance on your trip you wouldn't have to worry. Riu Palace looks beautiful (never been) but looks great

  We looked at the Rui Palace but decide on Secrets Maroma Beach instead, just based on word of mouth. It looked great though.

  Secrets Maroma was on our short list! But we've been to a Riu (Cabo) and know we like that chain. Plus the Riu ended up being a bit cheaper, which affected our decision.
