Best glue for DIY invites?

For those of you assembling your own layered invites, any suggestions on the best glue or adhesive to use?

Re: Best glue for DIY invites?

  • My mom does a ton of crafting and scrapbooking, so she has almost every adhesive you can think of.  The one that we used for our save the dates is called Scor-Tape and that stuff rocks!  But, it's one that once you put it down, you can't get it up so you have to be super careful.  Even so, I won't use anything else for our invites.  I tried using a glue stick on our first round of save the dates and they were all coming apart.

    I use this:

It's awesome!!! You can get the 4-pack at Joanne's and use a 50% off coupon! I believe it us $14.00 for the 4 pack at regular price, so $7 if you print a coupon. FYI: Joanne's takes Michael's coupons too.

  • Also...be very careful if you go with an actual glue. It tends to create a bubble effect or warp the paper. I like the tape adhesive rollers much better!

I have been using "glue dots" that I got at Michaels, and they work very well.

  • I also used glue dots. I bought mine at the dollar store, so they were like 64 for a buck! They hold great!

  • Do not use glue on your invites!!

You should use a double sided tape like Mono adhesive, or some other type of scrapbooking/paper crafting adhesive.  Personally I like the one from Creative Memories.  Clicky or clicky.

  • You want to use something that is safe for the paper and won't buckle.  Don't use glue.   Remember that you will have the summer heat (and maybe humidity) to deal with since you aren't getting married until October.  I use Creative Memories Tape Runner.  Worth the extra few dollars to know that your invitations will be safe and won't come apart.  If you are interested, let me know and I can help get you some!

Glue dots here too, from walmart i forget the brand but they where in an orange box
  • Thanks ladies! I used some scrapbooking adhesive, I guess I call all adhesive glue, for my save the dates but I wasn't crazy about it so just looking for something stronger this time around.
  • I will be using my ATG (Adhesive Tape Gun) for my invites. It is by 3M. If you don't want to buy it ($40 at Michaels) any double sided tape will work. Elmers carries a line at Walmart that is fairly inexpensive but of good quality. I scrapbook so the expense of my ATG  was not a problem for me. Plus FI got it for me 2 years ago for my birthday before we were engaged.

  • Nataliet02 - When you used your ATG on your invites, are you putting the tape all around the edges?  And do you have any idea how many invites you can do on one roll of tape?  Thanks!!
