tastings

Im kind of clueless how I am suppose to go choosing a menu for our wedding?

I have chosen my caterer ; I got  cost spreadsheet from them including a proposal of the menu and I have also attended a wedding that they had also catered.

I am going to be placing my deposit on them, but Im wondering, am I out of line to request a tasting?  Are tastings normal?  I dont want to look rude requesting a testing?  She wants me to finalize the menu but how do I know what will taste good?

thanks for your help!!

Did you get to taste the food while you were at the wedding they catered?  Usually thats when you would taste their food.  If you feel unsure and request a tasting, they shouldn't have a problem with it, they are trying to make a sale!

I would request a tasting. Our caterer is giving us a tasting for 4 people (me, my FI and my parents since they are helping with the cost) before we put a deposit down. I don't think its out of line at all to want to taste the food on your specific menu before your wedding.

I don't think it's out of line to taste what you're going to be serving at your wedding.  Our caterer/reception venue day-of coordinator said that b&g are free and we can bring whoever we want for $20 a person.  Seemed reasonable to me and now everyone' s excited to go menu tasting.
