Abuela's Zodiac/ Photography

So..on a lighter note..Abuela is the way she is because she's a Taurus. ;-)

Patient and reliable
Warmhearted and loving
Persistent and determined
Placid and security loving

Jealous and possessive
Resentful and inflexible
Self-indulgent and greedy

1) You could make a drinking game out of how many times she says "calliente" or "calor" in a day. Sometimes it's gotta be 10+ times per hour. Yes, it's hot. No, I'm not turning the AC on. Get over it. I was going to turn it on tomorrow because it's suppose to be 99 degrees out, but I might just wait now...
2) She just got so mad at me because I had set something on top of her bag of ice in the freezer. She threw it back into the fridge and said "AQUI! POR FAVOR"  "here! Please!" and stormed off..so..being the wench that I am..I just put it back on her ice ;-) Don't yell at me lady..after a long day at clinicals.

On another note - my photographer sent out an email saying.."the last 6 or 7 weddings, i've had issues with guests walking around taking pictures during the ceremony and/or accompanying us on the portraits. neither are okay. you are paying me a good amount of money :) "

I've never been to a wedding where some guests didn't try to capture the portraits themselves..how the heck do I get that info to guests?? That she doesn't want that?

  • My photographer said the same thing about not wanting guests to take pictures at the same time. He said that when there are multiple photographers people are looking at the wrong camera and it takes him multiple shots and much more time than it should. I still don't know how to communicate that either. Since I'm most worried about people standing behind him when we do the portraits, I'm going to recruit a cousin who isn't in the bridal party to "shoo" people away. Hopefully she'll be up for the job.   Not sure how we'll handle it for the rest of the day.

  • Ok portraits I get cause she's doing her thing and you only have so much time and probably doesn't want you to be distracted.... But during the ceremony? I would figure most ppl would try to take pics at this time. that part sounds kinda weird... Plus your not gonna tell them to cut it out during the ceremony, I think you'll be a little busy lol

Yeah. i think her problem with the ceremony is when people physically get up to take a picture - and block her shot.

Our photographer has this right in the contract. We are letting our wedding party and a few close relatives know so they can help spread the word if anyone tries to tag along during formal shots. As for the ceremony, I have no problem if people take photos from their seats, but I don't understand why people feel the need to get up and walk around to take photos. It's distracting to other guests and silly because you are paying a photographer, who (hopefully!) will have much better shots anyway.

  • Abuela & I are Taurus'....hahaha here are our differences...

    Patient and reliable
    Warmhearted and loving

    Persistent and determined (not today)
    Placid and security loving

    Jealous and possessive
    Resentful and inflexible
    Self-indulgent and greedy
  • We are putting a note in our programs asking people to refrain from photos (not just flash) during the ceremony. It's actually a rule of the church, but I'm sure our photog would prefer this as well.

For the portraits, we are just doing them when the guests will be busy elsewhere. It's one of the reasons we're even doing a cocktail hour. After the ceremony, we ship all of our guests off on the buses to the cocktail hour while the wedding party and immediate family stay at the church for the necessary photos. If yours is all in one location, perhaps you can just find a more secluded area in which to take photos? If ppl can't find you, they can't take pics of you.

  • My church is actually the one that has been a rule person about the photography.  Apparently in the church photgoraphers go into alcolves and behind shades and such to capture "the moments."  I have seen people take pictures in their seats but that's about it, I've never seen them get up and out of their seats to take pictures of the couple.  I've also never seen people go over and take pictures of the formals.
