FEEDBACK ON THE MANSION

Girls - I went to a tasting last night and HATED IT. Sorry if I sound like a B - I'm just really freaked out. The selections weren't great, and what they had was yucky. Like skin on the chicken, chicken bones, hot dogs, dried out chili ...  

I'm really worried now. They didn't really serve what we were looking to taste. It was a big group tasting and the food was really gross. Do you have any feeback? Have you been there recently for a wedding - or have you had a better experience there?

I'm trying to get a hold of our coordinator and I expressed my concerns as nicely as possible. I hope she gets back to me soon. Guess I am just looking from reassurance from you girls.

    I did both a solo tasting at their brunch, and the group tasting.  The group tasting was not a good idea in my book.  When we went for the individual tasting (which I dont think they do any more, but you can ask) we picked exactly which entrees we wanted to taste.  The food was plated as it would be when being served at the wedding.  Everything was good.

    You can make a few tweaks to the entrees, like sides and stuff.  For example, I asked that the chicken be boneless!  They'll do that.  I also asked not to have the  mushroom risotto on any of the plates because my BM is allergic and I dont want to take any chances... they'll do that too.

    I hope your coordinator can help to arrange a different tasting, or maybe complimentary brunch visit.

    One more thing, they seem to do the group tastings for everyone... weddings, corporate and other events.  The mansion actually hosts a lot of kid's bar/bat mitzvahs which is probably why you saw hot dogs.  Dont be scared LOL.

    I got married there in 2008. I had such a great time and the food was delicious. My parents got so many calls after the wedding saying it was the best wedding they had been to and raved about the food.
    i would call your coordinator and talk to her and even the chef, if you are that upset. It may put your mind at ease??

    i was there for a wedding last year and really didnt care for the food at all. no one in my family ate anything we were starving after. there were so many shells in the pasta and crab that we were all just handing it right back to the staff. make sure you def talk to someone asap about this. the food is such a big part and something everyone remembers thats why i didnt even give the mansion a thought when looking at venues. i hope all works out for you! sorry to bring bad news but i just thought you should know.

    Wow, I was supposed to go to that tasting last night. Now I'm scared because I didn't! Luckily I have until June 2011, but now I'm worried. WIll definitely be setting up a private tasting.

    Have any of you been to the Sunday brunch?  That's a good spread of food, and you can get a good (controlled) idea of the quality.

    I went there for my cousin's bridal shower, which was a brunch. I thought the food was great. I have never been there for a wedding though.

    I went there and required a tasting prior to signing a contract.  The food was awful.  I'm sorry.  Needless to say I didn't sign with them and went with a different venue.

    ugh! I missed that tasting. I was supposed to go. For what it is worth, I had my prom there several years ago and I hated the food that night lol. However, I kept them as a venue option because the place is beautiful. Sorry to hear the food wasn't good. Now I have a sad face because I was leaning toward the Mansion.
