Been gone awhile but i'm back/question!!

Hello ladies.

I have not frequented this board or planning in general for months. Had lots going on with the holidays  and school and it was too complicated. But i am getting closer to the day and I am back and I am here to staySmile

 


To reintroduce myself for a another time, lol I am getting married June 25, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (actually we are already married since last august, but now we are having our actual wedding)

I have a question for you ladies!

What are your expectations for your bridesmaids as far as costs are concerned?
I have 4 BM's and only one wants to get makeup done professionally,1 doesn't want makeup at all and the other 2 wants to do there own because they are scared of looking like a clown. (not to talk about my girls, but i'll just say the are NOT professionals at doing makeup and what they already do themselves doesn't really look good). However,  I thought i was going to be ok with this, but as i really think about it, I really want them all to have their makeup done and things to be in unison. It will be about $50 per person. Is this asking too much? should I make a big deal about it, or will it look off with some having make up done professionally, some not, and some doing it themselves?  I want nice pictures for the day  am I being selfish and a bridezilla?

    Hey there, welcome back!

    When it comes to things like makeup, if you're "demanding" that they get it done, then you have to pay for it.  I'm having a MUA come to us at the hotel and I initially asked everyone if it's something they'll be interested in.  A couple said that they would pay for it, while the others said that they'll just do it on their own.  In the end, I just decided to pick up the tab for it all, but if you want to everyone to have a certain "look", then it's up to you to pay for it.

    Thanks, that gives me a better insight! So I don't know if  I can afford the extra cost, of paying for all theirs, so with that said, do you thinkg it will look off in pictures?

    I have 9 BM and 7 of the 9 are getting make up done by my MUA and the other 2 are going elsewhere. 1 is getting it done by a lady that I have seen her work and it looks good the other one is going to someone I don't know. They might look off but I don't care as long as I look good! lol just kidding I tried to get everyone to go to the same person but they were adamant. I tried so all I can do is hope for the best.

    Hell date twin!  I wanted everyone to have make up done professionally so I am footing the bill for it.  It will be $35 per person. I had to cut corners on some things to cover the expense, but i like you, want nice pictures as well.  Have you shopped around for MUA's?

    As a pp said, if you want everyone to have makeup done, you"ll have to pay for it. For the girls who will do their own makeup, you could send or show them a picture of someone (magazine, photos, etc) as an example of how you want the makeup to look. For the girl who doesn't want makeup, maybe you could talk her into a lipgloss or lipstick. If she chooses to wear nothing, then oh well.

    Maybe you could talk to your photographer about it.

    I had this same issue and only my MOH (my own sister) said she didn't want to get her makeup done and I was a little upset and I tol her that she didn't have to get that much just something light for the pictures so she still said no and I got over it and said whatever I don't think it will be that bad. I'm having a MUA come to the hotel and I'm paying $20 on for each of the girls and they all agreed to pay the other $25 so maybe if you can't pay it all mayne you can pay something if possible.

    that's not a bad idea! thanks! I talked to everyone tonight and they will do it. I think they are mad about it, but they they said they'll do it.

    I agree with prior poster. I am having two makeup artists for my team. One for me, my mother, mother in law and my daughters. The 9 bridesmaids will have their makeup done by the other artist.
