Hi!  I am getting married in Texas,  I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer to my question, I've been doing some research and I still don't know the answer but,  one of our best friends is an excellent speaker,  we would love for him to be our secular officiant, but he lives in Ohio.  How do I go about getting him certified for Texas ceremonies? Will it be okay that he is an out of state resident? I really hope so.

    Ditto what PP poster said -- either County, or you might have to go up a rung to the state -- here in NYS it's the state that would decide who can and cannot perform ceremonies. Just make sure you've got everything in order, and I'm sure it'll be lovely.
