Doing your own makeup?

Anyone doing their own makeup and, if so, what you are using? Any tips for those of us who are makeup challenged but decided to go the DIY route? I got products from Mac for instance, but still find the gel eyeliner a bit tricky!

I'm not doing my own makeup, but I had a friend who did a couple years ago - I was a BM in her wedding. She went to the MAC counter and had them do it in the mall, they drew the face for her with the colors and instructions, and then she just bought all the products. I'm sure if you go to any MAC counter they can help you out.

I'm doing my own! I did a trial run on Saturday (after I had my hair done). I posted the photos earlier, but here's how my makeup came out:

List or products:
Face primer: L'Oreal
Foundation: Makeup Forever HD Foundation
Concealer: Revlon Photofinish
Transluscent finishing powder: Revlon Photofinish
Eyeshadow: Covergirl and Urban Decay Naked Palette (various shades of purples and neutrals)
Eyeliner: L'Oreal waterproof liquid liner
Mascara: L'Oreal waterproof...the voluminous one I think
Blush: Covergirl
Lip liner and lipstick: both from Revlon

I don't remember the "exact" names of the products, but I can certainly find out for you.

I am - I'm using Bare Escentuals (I've heard some negative reviews on it, but it's what I wear every day and what I wore for my e-pics, and they came out fine). I went to the store and had a full makeover done, and then bought every.single.product she used. I plan on practicing a bunch of times before the wedding...youtube videos are great too if you need help.

I would go to the makeup counter and ask for them to put the samples on you, that way you can be sure the colors are the right ones for your skin tone.

I'm doing my own and stayed away from any liner (especially liquid!) because I know im not good at makeup, an amazing lady at the drugstore helped me find something that looks amazing and is super easy, for the eyes its just one of those 4 packs and you use a angle brush in the darkest shade instead of liner, and you can make it as dramatic or low key as you want by using a thicker or thinner brush and if you dont like it its really easy to mix with your lid color to lighten it up and try again!

I was advised to stay away from MAC for wedding makeup because they tend to show glossy in pictures and tend to be bolder colors (which is great if you want bold...not so great if your like me and want reallly natural).

The brands I am using are: Stila and Lise Watier and then my usual covergirl mascara

If you have issues applying eye liner, I'd highly recommend Urban Decay's 24/7 glide-on shadow. It can be used as a liner and is the easiest, most awesome liner I've used. I got in it "rehab" and it's a great color, too! Not too harsh, like a black or dark brown. I'll be wearing it for my wedding next week.

I'm doing my own! There was a blogger on WeddingBee a while back that did some great tutorials on how to do your own make-up. Here's one of them: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/01/23/ace-your-face-pt-1/. She's also written some on doing your eyes, lashes, and brows, I believe. They really helped me as I started playing with my own make-up.

Here's what I've bought for my make-up. Just FYI, I've got a pretty pale complexion, blonde hair, and hazel eyes:

1. Almay Smart Shade/ Smart Balance foundation - I know it's not super fancy, but I use it every day and thus feel really comfortable with it.
2. Clinique blush (can't remember the color)
3. Make Up Forever's HD powder
4. Tarte Lipsurgence in Enchanted
5. Stila - In the Light palette
6. Maybelline mascara in very black.

I am getting mine done. But instead of eye liner what she does it wets a small brush and then uses a darker shade of eye shadow. I know she had to do quite a few layers, but maybe it would be easier?

I am planning on doing my own makeup. I went to Sephora today and did the beauty consult. The girl was great and really helped me pick out the items I need. It was great and I recommend it if you need advice on product choices. Hopefully I can recreate what she did for me!

I also use eyeshadow to set my eyeliner so it doesn't run throughout the day on a regular basis. I'm not doing my own wedding makeup, but I highly recommend it!</div>

You should look up youtube videos on how to do makeup. Some girls have great tips especially with applying eyeliner. That's where I learned how to do the "wings" and people love them! It took me a couple days to get used to the gel eyeliner from MAC- but it is by far my favorite-just make sure you buy the corresponding brush if you choose to get it.
