Using HRM to calculate calories burned.

I have a HRM. I use it while working out, but don't know how my heart rate translates into calories burned. Is there some kind of formula?

    Most decent HRM do the calculation for you.  It's important that it's got a chest strap so that it's constantly measuring your HR.

    You can probably find a calculator somewhere to look up approximate calories burned based on HR, but it will only be that, an approximation.

    What kind of HRM measures calories burned? I have been looking for one. Any suggestions?

    I got one of the more basic polar HRM with a chest strap. It was about $90 at target and does all the basic things like counting calories.  I really like it!
