Non-Traditional Guest Book

I'd love to have some sort of guestbook at the wedding, but hate the old fashioned little autograph books that are just lists of names. I have a few ideas for things we could do instead (like making scrapbook pages, photo books, etc), but I'd love to hear about or see what some of you may be doing/have done.

We did a photo book through Picaboo, with a few blank pages. Guests will sign it yearbook style. Let me see if I can find the link for you.

Not totally non-traditional; but I'm doing a wedding certificate, an Etsy seller is doing by hand in calligraphy. Each BM/GM and parent will have a special line to sign. The idea being that I will frame it and hang it up in our bedroom. (more details in my bio under "It's all in the Details")

We did a photobook, but I've seen people do a picture of themselves (epic maybe to be swapped with wedding pic later) with a thick white matte around it. Guests sign the matte. I've also see wish trees and wish jars. Guests write something on a card and either put it in a vase or hang it from curly willow branchs. Martha Stewart had a cute one where guests wrote on cards and then slipped it into envelopes glued to a scrapbook.

We are thinking about doing a photo book with blank pages that have a header at the top with a question, like "Where do you see the bride and groom in 10 years" or "What one thing do you wish you'd have known on your wedding day that you know now" or "Advice for the bride and groom." Then people can pick a page to write on and make it a little more personal - as opposed to having just a whole bunch of "Good lucks" and "Great wedding" messages!!

We are doing two white matte's with an e-pic in each ....guests will sign around the pictures and then we will frame them and hang them up in our home! My brother and sister in law had 3 of them, and everytime I go over to their house I always read the signatures.

We did this also, and I'm very glad we did. I wanted something that we'd actually want to have displayed. I made it up in InDesign, but there are some Etsy sellers making them too, or you could make it in Publisher too. I made an extra sheet that was just lines for our AHR guests to sign, the main one was enough for our Hawaii guests to sign. I made several different versions, one had our wp and parents name under their line to sign, another had lots of flowers in the background. To give you some ideas.

I'm doing a vintage suitcase to sign. All the stuff I Want to keep will go in there after the wedding. Then I have little luggage tags for people to out advice on or their favorite travel destination.

I heard of this somewhere, cant remember where, but my FI grandmother is a quilter and I am going to have her cut pieces of fabric for people to write messages on with a fabric marker. Then after the wedding his Gma will create us a wedding quilt as our wedding present. I may even have her include pictures of the wedding on the quilt since you can print pics on fabric now. I can't wait!

I had our epics printed via Mpix.com (I like their quality better than Shutterfly & such) and used the old fashioned photo corners to attach them to black scrapbook pages which were bound in a black scrapbook (I used Creative Memories because going to Michael's makes me crazy). Guests signed with a white pen (Signo rollerball - PM me for details). I wanted something less modern than the pre-made photo books, and I wanted to get good use out of my epics because we didn't use them on our STDs.

We're having people sign a white photo mat, then eventually we'll put one of our wedding photos in the frame.

Our guests will also be signing a photo mat. It's black and guests will sign with a silver sharpie.

We did a photo book on mixbook.com. It was really easy because they already have pages set up with themes, like wedding, etc. I think it looked more professional than some I've seen from other websites, and it took way less time!

I have see Wishing Trees and Mason Jars where guests can put notes in.

We are doing a Photo Guest book. Although I may scrapbook the pages instead. I Scrapbooking it just gets outragiously expensive for me. I love all the fancy stuff!

<div>Totally agree! I really want to do a scrapbook but am worried about going overboard. I worked at Michaels all through college and caught a serious case of the scrapbooking bug that I have never let myself fully indulge. I might finally cave her at any moment with all these e-pics!</div>
