When to have a bridal shower?

I am getting married on 10/15/11 and was wondering when is the appropriate time for a shower? Can I have it in the Spring? Is that too soon?

Most people have them a couple of months before the wedding. And it should be up to whomever is hosting the shower to decide when to have it.

Ditto topchef. You can't host your own shower - so it's really up to whoever hosts it to decide when to have it.

Usually a couple months before the wedding, but if you really want a Spring shower then tell the person who is throwing it for you. A few people offered to throw me showers and they all wanted my input of when I wanted it.

I would feel like spring is pretty early for a shower for an october wedding. I believe traditionally showers are within about 6 weeks of a wedding, though now that engagements are getting longer and longer a few months has become acceptable. I would think a spring shower was weird unless there was a reason it really had to be - i.e. a military bride on leave or something....

Is three months prior to the couples wedding date too soon to have a bridal shower?

Some people are suggesting that it be 1 mo prior to the wedding. I think that is absurd with all of the other details that will be happening in the mo before.

Any suggestions.....
