Progress!

Okay, it has been a while since I posted. Happy to report I have the following checked off my list:

Date, Ceremony Venue
Reception Venue: The Colonnade, Boston, MA
Band: small steelband from Toronto (played at both my siblings' weddings)
Flowers: Les Fleurs, Andover, MA
Dress: Amsale "Lauren" from Kleinfeld's NYC (http://www.amsale.com/bridal/amsalecollection/dresses/lauren.shtml)

Dress was a total surprise - still kind of reeling from the lightning quickness of that decision. Went to Kleinfeld's not intending to buy in the least, but tried on 6 dresses and ended up leaving with dress, veil and jeweled sash. Well at least it's done! Haha.

Still need:
DJ
Lighting (uplighting)
Photographer

Any budget friendly suggestions welcome!

Hope you are all doing well with your planning!

Re: Progress!

  • I wouldn't put all those details on the internet.  There are some crazies out there.  I'd recommend John Cristoferi out of Brockton for a DJ.  Good luck!

  • For lighting, I recommend Waterlemon Events from Woburn. Www.waterlemonevents.com. I am using them for uplights, lanterns and seating. Definitely budget friendly.
  • How much did you want to spend on DJ and photog? Budget means different things to different people. :)

  • For photog definitely check out Shannon Sorenson Photography. She's in CT, but she does a lot of MA weddings. She did my TTD pics and they are gorgeous. Plus, she's a total doll.
  • Hi fellow June 2013 bride. :) I'm using DJ Shyne from ECF Entertainment. He was great when we met with him, and he is also super quick in getting back to me via e-mail. We are paying $1,000 for 4 hour for our reception. He also offers an uplighting package, but FI and I are not using it because of budget limitations.

  • I am using One Eleven Images for our photorgraphy. They are amazing!! Our total package (including 8 hours of photography and an engagement session) is $2300. I loved that there are 2 photographers (they are a couple) and they both have different styles of shooting. I also liked that one will be with my fiance while getting ready and one with me so no photos get missed.

For the DJ, I am using Mike from Pure Energy Entertainment... again, super great! They are out of Reading and have been awesome to work with. We are paying $1200 for 6 hours of music (ceremony and reception, as it's all in one place) and he also brings along another MC / DJ to ensure things sun smoothly. They also offer uplighting and if you get both DJ and Lighting packages, it's around $1500 for both!! I thought that it was very reasonably priced! Plus, they can tailor any package to your wants/needs/budget.

Zach Dauphinais for a DJ - he's several hundred under your budget.  He's a favorite on the CT board but he travels to MA frequently.  He also offers uplighting, I'm not sure on pricing for that.

And O'Brien Photo, also several hundred under your budget and their packages include 8 hours, 2 photogs, disc with rights, and engagement session.

I'm using both of these vendors and I am very happy with them so far!

    Good luck!

  • For a DJ we are using Good Times Unlimited. We thought their prices were reasonable. One of my friends used Peter Brady (with goodtimes) and people still haven't stopped talking about her September wedding! We knew right away that is who we wanted to use! He was amazing!

  • I'm a June 2013 bride too. I had a hard time finding a DJ and that was back in February. My first choice had seven weddings on my date. I'm using TSG Weddings and they're great! My photographer is Berry Photos and they've been fabulous.

  • I know, I was shocked at how quick they booked. I got the last Saturday in 2013 at my venue (booked in January). My church is totally booked for 2013. It's insane! I haven't booked a florist yet and I'm getting a little nervous.

</div><div>I booked Les Fleurs out of Andover for flowers. Their flowers and arrangements are so gorgeous. They are not cheap but not the most expensive either. They don't have a minimum so they can definitely work with your budget. Kerianne Steele is such a sweetheart - give them a look! Here's a link to a vendor spotlight that a well-known Boston photographer, Leah Haydock, did on them:</div><div><a href="http://leahhaydock.blogspot.com/2012/04/vendor-spotlight-favorite-florist-les.html" rel="nofollow">http://leahhaydock.blogspot.com/2012/04/vendor-spotlight-favorite-florist-les.html</a>
