iPad as a wedding gift for FH?

Our wedding day will be very eventful.  My FH is a very emotional man, so I know he will be absolutely ecstatic and emotional. 

I was thinking of giving him his wedding gift the night before at the rehearsal dinner. 
For his gift, I was considering an iPad.  He has talked endlessly about wanting an iPad, though we couldn't "fit it in" our budget until sometime later next year.  It would be a very nice surprise for him.

However, I almost wonder if it would take some of the excitement for our wedding away.  He'd be so thrilled with his new, very much desired toy ... which MIGHT distract him from getting sleep prior to the wedding.  Perhaps he'd stay up the night before playing with it.  What do you think?

    Maybe you could just give him the box, and give him the actual iPad after the wedding?  DH gave me an iPad for my birthday, but I only got the gift card for the cost of the base model that day.  It gave me a chance to do a little research into options for storage capacity, 3G, and accessories, and I think it was nearly a month later before it finally arrived.  I also ended up upgrading from what he was planning to buy me.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Seriously, you think the excitement over him getting an iPad will take away from your wedding?  First of all, it won't.  He is (I'm assuming) a grown man who would realize to sleep before the wedding.  I just don't understand why you would want to get him a gift that you know he really wants, but then be afraid he will enjoy it too much. 

    Second, if you're that worried then do what aerin said and give him the gift card or the box for it.

    i definitely don't think it would take away from your wedding day...i mean this is such a special day!!! but i also like aerin's idea was good if you are still worried...just give him the box and then the actualy iPad after the wedding

    If my FI was more excited about an ipad than our wedding day, I think I'd call it quits! lol

    I think that if he wants it that much then go for it, but I also like the idea of the gift card so he can choose which one he wants.

    That's what I was thinking.  My FI really wants an iPad, but not until the "next" generation is released.  I am not up on release dates, but if the one he wants is released prior to our wedding day (July 3, 2011), I will definitely get it as a wedding gift for him.  My hope is that it will be released before his birthday (June 12) so I can give it to him then.  I'd like to get something a little more personal than an iPad as a wedding gift.

    I think you should go for it, especially if you know it is something your FI wants!!
