Ivory dress, what color for tuxedo and shirts?

My dress is Ivory, when I put it on fell in love with it and knew it was "the" dress I was not thinking what color will my FH and groomsmen be wearing. Our colors are purple and pewter. We walked into a mens wearshouse and just did a quick sampling of what the colors would look like together. Then the lady asked what color shirts will the men be wearing, i was like "ugh" shirts, color?

Never thought about it, till that very moment. I want the guys to be in black tuxedos but not sure about what color for the shirts. HELP please with some advice. What do I do?

I think white shirts will be totally acceptable. FI and I were in a wedding this fall where the bride wore ivory and insisted the guys buy special ivory dress shirts so her dress wouldn't look "dirty." The shirts they wore ended up being too dark and made her dress look lighter. No one would have noticed if they had worn white. It will be easier for everyone.

I just had this conversation yesterday with my sister. I was wondering the same thing. She too said White shirts. My dress is Ivory.

My FI and I went to Men's Warehouse this weekend to do his tuxes. They showed us ivory and white shirts just so we could see and the ivory shirts looked dirty with the tux we had picked out.

I think white will be just fine!

I think ivory men's shirts tend to look dingy IMO. Ivory dresses tend to photograph white anyway so white men's shirts should be no problem.

What does everyone think of black shirts. I have the same problem as well. my other color is plum. Would black shirts look ok? i think thats what my FL wants...
